Great book for anyone considering living full-time in an RV. I'm reading it for the third time & find something new each time. I'll definitely keep it for future reference. It will be one of the books we take with us when we take back our life & go full-timing...if I don't wear it out first. Stephanie has done a great job making a lot of technical information easy to read. She has a lot more information at her website where you can read the first chapter of the book and any updates to the information in the book. Thanks Stephanie!

You're probably tired of your job or maybe you'd like to spend more time with your family. Perhaps you've seen others hit the road and wonder how they are able to make things work. You may have even looked at a few rigs at a dealer's lot.

Then "It" happens.

You get the worst possible attack of This-Can't-Possibly-Work. Then a cascade of reasons arrive:

You'll learn the ins and outs of RVing, what choices need to be made and how to make them, how to make money while traveling, how to handle communication issues, how to find a home base, how to travel with pets, homeschooling children and so much more.

But she doesn't stop there. She includes worksheet samples designed to help you make the best decision for you. AND she includes a comprehensive resource listing including hundreds of Internet sites designed with the RVer in mind.

So if you're ever remotely considered chucking it all, no matter your age or marital status, this is the one book you *have* to read.

UPDATE: Six years later I found myself reading this book again as I contemplated full-time RVing as a solo woman. I found it still had a wealth of great information and really helped me solidify my RVing plans.

Whether you're currently a full-timer or merely a wannabe, this is the FIRST book you should purchase! I read Stephanie's book the first night - actually I devoured each and every page. It is easy to read and has virtually EVERYTHING you need to explore the full-timing lifestyle! I have read other books on the subject, but this one is by far THE BEST! Even after 4 years of being a full-time RVer myself, I found a wealth of News You Can Use in these pages - everything from a thorough discussion of RV weight-bearing issues to tips on volunteering and jobs for full-timers. Whether you're a retiree, a baby boomer looking forward to that last day of work, or a younger worker slaving away at a career that no longer satisfies, you'll find Take Back Your Life to be a great guidebook for transforming yourself from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

This is a great book. I've read many of the ones out there, but Bernhagen has the best resource guide. Her charts for calculating weight and budgets are outstanding! Bernhagen's approach is fresh and relevent. Never didactic, all information is presented so that the reader can make their own decisions using her resource guide and her narrative as tools.

As a long-time writer in the Full-timing RV community, I highly recommend it.

"Take Back Your Life" is one of the best books I've ever seen about full-timing, offering glimpses into the experiences of real people living their own dreams of life on wheels. Whether you're a novice or an experienced road warrior, this is one book you should not be without! There is excellent and timely information about solving health insurance problems and tips that can enhance the on-the-road life-style.
