Amy Winehouse was just nineteen years old when she recorded this song. It's beautifully written and tells the story of an ill-fated relationship, and, specifically makes reference to the box of her things that she's packing up, as memories that she'd rather not recall as she closes that chapter of her life. The lyrics are strong, the melody is beautiful and she sounds great (very jazzy and melodious). Also, if you get a chance, I highly reccomend the video!

Before transforming into the tatted up, drug addicted bad girl of Back To Black, British songbird Amy Winehouse was a more grounded 19 year old soaking up the critical and commercial success of her debut album Frank.

Released as the second single in early 2004, Take the Box finds the singer swinging by her ex's place to drop off all the things that remind her of him. Everything from the "Moschino bra you bought me last Christmas" to Frank (either her dog or the singer's albums). Amy's angry yet vulnerable vocals blend in seamlessly with the track's bleary-eyed, early morning vibe.

The surreally shot video features Winehouse wistfully lip-syncing the lyrics while singing on the stage of an empty club with a shiny disco ball swinging from the ceiling.

The B-side 'Round Midnight is the classic "down in the dumps" jazz standard sung by everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Cassandra Wilson. Amy's version is more fast-paced with a fiery sax and swirling atmosphere. It's amazing how she's able to channel all of the pain and confusion in a song most people her age know nothing about. Amy Amy Amy!
