An Insightful and Informative Resource,
By
This review is from: Take Control of Your Period (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about the workings of the female reproductive system, but it turns out I was virtually clueless how birth control works on the body and changes the information we got in middle school Health class.Dr. Diana Kroi goes through each birth control method available worldwide, explains how the method works on the body and how it can be modified and utilized to your benefit. In addition, she gives tips on how to evaluate medical information, a difficult task for most laypeople. She also covers myths related to menstruation and menstrual management in great detail. One of the most pleasing things about the book is that Dr. Kroi compiles all this information in a way that is easy and entertaining to read. I've been safely skipping periods using Ortho-Evra since I read this book, and I haven't looked back. This is a must-have resource for any women past menarche.

This book is a must-have for all women. I can't believe how much I didn't know about birth control before reading it. My friend read it and then went on Seasonale, and hasn't had her period for 6 weeks! I hope every woman who is on the pill picks up this book.

Ad for the Pill: This Book is a Waste of Your Time & Money,
By Quincey Tyler "QT" (Honolulu, HI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Take Control of Your Period (Mass Market Paperback)
If I had known this book was a pumped up advertisement for the Pill, I never would have bought it. I have nothing against the Pill, whether for birth control or period control. But if that's all this book contains (and, yes, that's the tool/solution it's touting), then it's not enough to base a book on. The author provides this information as if we don't already know the availability and wonders of the Pill: "What? The Pill? As a way to control my period? You're kidding me!" Hello?! Haven't we progressed beyond this? Aren't there other ways to control a period? That's what I was looking for. If you are, too, don't waste your time with this book.
