Seventh Day Slumber has been a Christian rock band I've enjoyed since I first heard "Caroline", "I Believe" and "Oceans From The Rain" from their BEC Recordings debut album "Once Upon A Shattered Life" in 2005. They kicked it up a notch with the rock in "Finally Awake" in 2007, and I listen to "Missing Pages" and "Undone" regularly. All of their songs have a worship component so it is natural for them to release a worship album, "Take Everything" on March 10, 2009. The first thing that caught my eye about the album was the song titles of familiar and amazing worship songs of the past decade. In fact, the best comparison is to fellow BEC artist Kutless and how they recorded worship songs and a few Kutless originals on "Strong Tower" in 2005.

"Take Everything" is a very strong collection of 9 great worship songs by Chris Tomlin ("How Great Is Our God" and "Famous One"), Hillsong ("Mighty To Save", "From The Inside Out", and "Lead Me To The Cross"), Brenton Brown ("Everlasting God"), Matt Redman ("Nothing But The Blood"), Vineyard Worship ("Surrender") and the all-time classic "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe. The songs are newly recorded with the rock styling of Seventh Day Slumber and in my opinion includes 5 of the top 50 songs of the decade: "Mighty To Save", "How Great Is Our God", "Everlasting God", "From The Inside Out" and "I Can Only Imagine". The versions of all of the classic worship songs are well made and sung with passion by Joseph Rojas. Personally, I prefer the Hillsong United version of "Lead Me To The Cross" sung by Brooke Fraser and the original Brenton Brown version of "Everlasting God", however the versions of "Surrender" and "Nothing But The Blood" are amazing and add to the original recordings.

There are also 3 original Seventh Day Slumber worship songs including 2 brand new songs "Take Everything" and "Carry Me", which are both great and uplifting songs. The closing song "Oceans From The Rain" is a stripped down recording of the hit song from "Once Upon A Shattered Life" and is a great way to close out a very fun collection of some of the greatest hits in worship of the decade. "Take Everything" is a great companion album to "Strong Tower" by Kutless and a must-have for any fan of Seventh Day Slumber.

I bought this CD with the idea that I was going to be listening to something more original from this talented band...and I couldn't be further from the truth. They did covers of many well-known worship songs which I find very lacking in creativity. It's almost as if they took the harder genre that they usually play and tried to force it on songs that were never meant for that. It just doesn't work.

I enjoyed their previous release, "Awake", but Seventh Day Slumber seems to have run out of ideas when they made this album. If you like, unoriginal, uninspired, uninteresting, typical Christian music...this is for you.

I'll look for good music elsewhere.

Seventh Day Slumber is a band that I have enjoyed for several years. This collection is no exception.

This is a worship CD from start to finish. It contains remakes of several well known songs by others, one of their own previous ones, and some new material.

Some of the tracks that they have included here are absolute classics by other artists. In this category are Chris Tomlin's 'Famous One' and 'How Great Is Our God'. It would be a very tall order indeed to surpass MercyMe in redoing their amazing tune, 'I Can Only Imagine'. Various performers have done 'Everlasting God' before. I think that the one by Lincoln Brewster falls into the unbeatable category.

One cover done here that is better than the original in my opinion is 'Lead Me To The Cross'. There is also a very good one of that done by the Newsboys.

'Oceans From The Rain' is one of their own previous works. It is a superb song. Two new tracks are 'Take Everything' and 'Carry Me'. Both are quite good, but I particularly like the first one.

Overall, this is a good CD, but I would have preferred more original material or at least choosing other worship songs to remake that are not already total classics by others.

This is definitely a good CD with a different twist on worship, but it is not Seventh Day Slumber's best CD. This CD Take Everything has some good songs on it, but not all of them are good. If you listen to their old stuff, it definitely had a more musical side to it. This stuff is good, but it is not great. Buy it and listen to it, but, it is not their best work.

Thank you, Seventh Day Slumber, for failing to disappoint once again! Even though this one isn't all "original songs," it still has the passion that makes SDS one of the best bands out today. I may incur wrath for saying so, but this offering rivals "Strong Tower" from Kutless. Yeah, it's that good. This disc has found a long-time home in my 6-disc changer, and also a comfortable position on my MP3 player. Well worth the listen!

REally nice version of some worship songs with a few originals. This is rockin but expect rockin worship songs. Very cool.

I have to say, I am not much for "worship" albums, but with SDS writing the songs (well at least some), I thought that the songs would keep up with their previous work. I love their other albums, but this one seems cheap. I almost don't want to rip it and put it on my iPod, but since I have a large drive, I might as well use the space. There is one song on the album that seems to be a carbon copy of one of their other songs and all they did was change the words. I also have to say, there is not much meat to the lyrics. I look at music style first and then lyrics. If the style is something I like, but the lyrics don't measure up, I won't buy the disk. If you like simple 7-11 songs, this disk is for you. 7-11 songs being those with seven words repeated eleven times to make up a song. Granted these songs aren't that bad, but still, I expected more from this album than what is on it. If you can pick it up cheap, like I did, it may not be bad to have around. SDS, please don't release albums that take away from your previous work. If this is a picture of what is to come, I may have to drop you from the few bands that I follow and buy.
