This is a Leeza Gibbons "fan book" plain and simple, that documents her life, the turmoil she encountered and managed. It's up to you to glean helpful hints from her experiences that may or may not help you in particular. It's really HER GUIDE TO HER PROBLEMS! It's more TAKE 2 and call somebody cause the answers might or might not be here somewhere in this vanity book... for me it says "thanks for watching all those years and purchasing my book." Ca-ching!

I expected MORE FROM HAY HOUSE which seems to be on a "publish or perish" bender.

FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from Hay House Publishing for this review. The opinions expressed are unbiased and reflect my honest judgment of the product.

As someone who is fascinated by anyone who has reinvented themselves, I was eager to learn the details of Leeza Gibbons' transformation. Remembering her as a beautiful and successful television entertainment news host, I wanted to know what prompted her metamorphosis and how she was able to embrace change.

Leeza explains in the book's introduction that her mother's Alzheimer's disease forced her to re-examine her feelings, fears, and truths. Together with other life experiences, (including divorce, raising children, and building a business) such challenges led her to write a "Transformation Proclamation," a powerful statement taking charge of her life and refusing to merely let it happen to her. Subsequent chapters detail the lessons she has learned along the way and her advice to women who want or need their own do-over.

Self-love is the focus of the first chapter. Leeza describes how to become your own best friend and the value of doing so. She then suggests ways of modifying our orientation toward change, since we typically fear it even though change is inevitable.

"Surviving and even thriving through change depends on your ability to search out the good and work with what you have...change is an introduction to your higher self..." This rang true as I thought about losing my young adult son nearly two years ago, and my ever-evolving acceptance of his death. Although it was excruciatingly unwelcome change, I ultimately refused to feel victimized and reclaimed my right to a good life even with the pain of devastating loss.

Leeza discusses fear and courage.

I met Leeza 35+ years ago in my home state of South Carolina. We shared the spirit of small town cheerleaders. I knew her as "Leeza the Irmo Yellow Jacket" before she became "Leeza." When I read Take 2: Your Guide to Creating Happy Endings and New Beginnings, I was blown away by Leeza's inspirational words as well as the depth of her wisdom! I instantly realized the woman she has become--a shining star of courage, hope, and a "cheerleader" for any and all of us who are in desperate need a second take in our lives! This book reflects Leeza's heart, and the heart of her mother, Jean Gibbons. Leeza often quotes her mom's sentiments in the book for all of us to benefit from, such as: "Take a chance honey. You only regret the things you don't do." Leeza encourages us to love ourselves first, create our own sanctuaries, know who we are and understand our own stories "before we add another person to the plot." This one instantly resonated with me after my recent divorce. The book is a useful tool to be kept handy at all times by anyone needing a "guidebook" for life! This book is about reinvention and never apologizing for trying. As Leeza says, "Arguably, no one gets it right all the time, but we all get a chance to have another chance. That's become more than enough for me." She says to "honor your story," create your own sanctuary and ask yourself "what's expendable? What do I need to let go of?" and then delete it from your life. "When in doubt, cut it out! No apologies, no explanations, no looking back." We all, women and men, have people who depend on us. Leeza says "...the better you care for yourself the better it gets for everyone who depends on you. Loving yourself first is the ultimate selfless act." Always follow your gut, "lead with your strengths and use what's organic to us...Read more ›

This book, Take 2, came at just the right time for me. I have been so ready to make positive life changes, but was at a loss about how to get started, what to change and when. In Take 2, Leeza's no nonsense and very practical approach and exercises have been instrumental in implementing the changes I need to make my life what I always dreamed it could be. It's a process, but a very worthwhile process. Where I once dreaded the fact that I'm getting older, I now look at my future as a challenge and am excited about my own "Take 2"! I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels stuck in their life that needs that little nudge to move forward. Thanks Leeza for this very inspirational and life changing book!
