Book Description

"Take the Lid Off Your Church" is a practical eBook to help churches, non-profits and businesses rethink their structure beginning with the senior leadership team. The book addresses several key questions regarding the health of this team including:

> When should you begin building a senior leadership team?
> What are the roles of this team?
> Who should be on the senior leadership team?
> How does this team empower other leaders in the organization?
> What should the senior leadership start and stop doing? What's their focus?

Like previous eBooks written by Tony Morgan, this resource can be read in about 30 minutes, but it's designed to promote conversation and next steps. In other words, consider reading and talking about the content and the discussion questions with your team.

If you feel stuck in your leadership or as an organization, you might want to stop looking at your frontline staff or blaming the people you're trying to reach and spend a little more time evaluating the health of your senior leadership team. This eBook is designed to help you begin that journey.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read for leadership team October 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Short e-book that gives insights to the structure and expectations of a church leadership team. Basically an expanded blog post that's good, but not revolutionary. The self-promotion of his coaching/consulting business and the name dropping of the vanderbloeman search groups felt awkward and forced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure wish I could turn back the clock September 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Man, I wish I'd had Tony's eBook about 10 years ago - it would have saved me some of the worst decisions I've made as a leader. But since we can't turn back the clock, I would at least urge you to get your copy & Take the Lid off your Church by implementing its principles.

Probably most of us reading this would agree with Tony's assessment that the Senior Leadership Team is one of the most important factors in a church's growth & health, but I'd be the first to admit I haven't know how to insure the right people were on that team or that the team was functioning for optimal results. This eBook gives you the tools to solve both issues.

This may be the best $3 & 30-minute investment you'll ever make in your ministry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Homerun from Tony Morgan October 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Tony Morgan brings to this book his experience consulting with churches and leaders around the county. What I appreciate most about this book is its brevity. He makes his points well and strongly but without over-explaining or providing endless, repetitive examples. You can read this book in a single setting and I would encourage you to do so. What you don't want to do - and won't I would venture - is finish it in a single session. tony provides practical advice on discerning whether your senior leadership team is the lid on your church's growth. And he doesn't leave the chief leader, the pastor, out of it. I found this a hard read at certain points where I saw my own leadership and my own church painted a bit more accurately than I found comforting.

The book also provides clear ways of assessing the team (and individual leaders) and suggestions for moving ahead. The discussion guide included at the end brings the material to your context and team in a practical way.

If you find this book as useful and thought-provoking as I did, I'd encourage you to look at Tony's other short works on leadership. Their brevity - and this one as well - is no indicator of their usefulness and applicability. Once you've read this one you will want to go farther and deeper.
