Like stepping back into 1987 without even flinching!,

...and I mean that title in the BEST possible way. This is an epic record for anyone that appreciated the intensity and simplicity of Arena Rock in the 80's. The bonus DVD included in one of the Limited Editions includes a behind the scenes, "making of" this album in which they talk about their influences: Motley Crue, Def Leppard, KISS, Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith, etc. This record is the ultimate homage to that brand of rock and roll.
The opening track "Use Me" is an amazing way to kick off the album. It's raw, it's cliche', and it's amazing. The chorus has such a hook that you'll want to headbang-even if you're in your cube at work streaming your music. The title track "Take It To The Limit" features the uncomparable Mick Mars (from Motley Crue) playing guitar with the band. Mick Mars was (and still is) one of the premier rock and roll guitarists and it echoes with the new generation. At 60 years old, he's living proof that you're never too old to turn the amps up. "Loaded and Alone" is a great throwback to any 80's metal story about a kid with big dreams and finding out it's not what they really wanted. The song flows like it should have been in a teen movie from twenty years ago. Scattered throughout the rest of the album, you'll find catchy ballads, sing and answer choruses, and songs that capture an unforgettable time for rock. You'll be nodding your head at the pulse of this album while it leaves you with a feeling of familiarity. What's old is new again! Fans of "Extreme Behavior" might be a little disappointed with this record. While they maintain some of their signature sounds, it's the band paying tribute to their influences. Fans of the bands mentioned in the 1st paragraph should easily love this album. I almost felt like it was a symbiote of "KISS-Crazy Nights", "Motley Crue-Girls, Girls, Girls", "GNR-Appetite For Destruction", "Bon Jovi-Slippery When Wet", and "Def Leppard-Hysteria". Rock on!!

Turn your thinking brain off and enjoy this,

Hinder gels as a band, the instrumentation is top notch. These songs are uplifting and big sounding. If they had put another "chick" on the album cover they would've sold platinum instead of gold. JMHO, I really like Hinder's brand of rock.

A bit of a throw-back to the late 80's sound. Big anthemic songs, huge hooks, singalong choruses, great production . "Loaded and alone" & the more reflective "Far from home" are favorites. Even mick mars guests on this cd.Brings back memories of 80's rock when music was fun and horny.

One of my friend's described Hinder's album as "epic". As a fan of their initial album, I decided I should check out the epicness. I bought the album and was not disappointed in the slightest. Do I think it was their best work? Not necessarily. Did I enjoy the album? Without question. The album has a definite 80's feel to it, which I really enjoyed. However, as a fan of Hinder, I expected much different. Overall, I give it a solid B+.

Hinder's 2008 album is swesome. Great tunes from beginning to end. I bought All American Nightmare and Extreme Behavior first, and then after listening to those albums, I had to get this one. If you like good, ol' fashioned rock, you will not be disappointed.

Of the three CDs Hinder has released this is the best yet. The music is consistent, has a steady theme which is Hinder's style, love, drinking and of course sex, and almost every song in the CD stays within the punk-rock/country music genre.

"Hinder" recreate all-80s rockstar glamour on this second album!!,

"Take it to the limit" is the second album by American rock band "Hinder", originally released in 2008. "Take it to the limit" captures the band taking a creative turn towards a more 80's oriented hard rock sound.
The amazing cover artwork hints a lot about the artistic direction of the album; mansions, fast cars, sexy ladies, effectively summing up the extravagance of the 80s rock-star lifestyle. All the above are essentially portrayed on the lyrical part of "Hinder"s music and one has to admit that it works rather well for them. The line up features lead singer Austin Winkler, guitarists Joe Garvey and Mark King along with bass player Mike Rodden and drummer Cody Hanson. Although simple, one could argue that rock-star attitude is hard to be induced naturally in a band's music, with groups moving towards that direction often sounding forced and perhaps unconvincing. Well, "Hinder" have managed to sound as spontaneous as possible and the more one plays "Take it to the limit", the more one is convinced that the album is a natural progression in the group's career. Favorite tracks include "Heaven Sent", the groovy-melodic "Up all night" and "Lonely and alone". Above all, what makes the material and album memorable is the anthemic nature of the songwriting, emphasizing huge choruses, grooves and melodies being the very essence of this genre. "Take it to the limit" is a must for fans 80s oriented, yet modern, rock. |
