Release: July 27th 2009 / August 4th 2009

Back in 2000, West London’s funky, forward-thinking, experimental hip-hop collective The Herbaliser released their acclaimed double-vinyl album Session 1. Recorded in raw and organic studio jams, these expansive instrumentals marked the group’s evolution from studio boffins to full big-band line-up. The Guardian… Read more in Amazon's Herbaliser Store

5.0 out of 5 stars They've done it again, June 2, 2005
By
This review is from: Take London (Audio CD)
Jake and Ollie have done it again. Another truly GREAT album in the same vein as "Something Wicked". Their excellent live band is pushed more front and centre here, with Ollie's turtable skills moved more into the background. Hot and heavy horns with some serious funk and plenty of surprises, this album is great. Half the tracks are vocal hip hop, with the other half instrumental, and the whole thing listens well from start to finish. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Herbal Return, September 6, 2005

This review is from: Take London (Audio CD)
After the not-too-memorable "Something Wicked", The Herbaliser cook an excelent collection of songs in the vein of their "Very Mercenary" album. Roots Manuva is excellent, and the female MC spot in this album is taken by Jean Grae, bringing back fond memories of Herbaliser's collaborations with Bahamadia. Great beats, with a nice orchestral sound and a soundtrack-like quality. Great album.
