By Charles Jay "Charles J" (Troy, Mich) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Take the Lull By the Horns!: Closing the Leadership Gap (Paperback)
Take the Lull By the Horns is, by far, the best short leadership fable to hit the business world. Lee Meadows has done a wonderful job of focusing organizations on looking inward for the talent that is waiting to be unleashed. I found his lead character to be someone with whom we can all relate. I like the idea of revisiting his workday to discover all the missed leadership opportunities. This book goes where the others leave off. I especially like the idea that he uses people to illustrate his points and not mice, penguins etc... People are far more interesting and this book tells a compelling story. Anyone who truly aspires to leadership should have this book in their library.

Take The Lull by the Horns- worth-while reading,

This book is a quick and easy read which is somewhat reminiscent of The One Minute Manager. The management philosophy is solid. I liked the summaries of the key points that are done after each senario. The style is somewhat elementary but amusing.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who feels that they have hit a "lull" in their career or organizationally. The book reveals a short story the allows the reader to rethink the missed opportunities within their days, and reminds us that we should be more observant to the daily opportunities that are presented to us constantly. From the perspective of someone in an organization on the cusp of organizational changes where the "lull" is the norm I will unquestionable be more observant to those situations as they arise.
