The first time I heard this CD, it blew me away. That was more than a year ago. Even now, after playing it many, many times, it still gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it. This album is truly amazing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great singles add up to a mediocre whole
I heard her on internet radio -- and I loved the sound. I read the reviews and thought, "A little classic Joplin mixed with a healthy dose of McLachlan all wrapped in a Christian package? How can you beat that?"

Unfortunately, the album doesn't play well straight through. On a single-by-single basis, Sarah Kelly sounds great, but the whole project owes as...

The first time I heard this CD, it blew me away. That was more than a year ago. Even now, after playing it many, many times, it still gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it. This album is truly amazing.

When I first heard it, her voice immediately reminded me of Janis Joplin, and her music also kind of reminded me of Joan Osborne. Another reviewer offered a comparison in vocal quality to Alanis Morrisette, and I can see that too. I am not a fan of any of these artists, and the music on this album is not typically the kind of music I listen to, but Sarah Kelly's singing and her songs are just so astounding that it goes beyond the normal boundaries of musical style in its appeal.

The songs are pop-rock, or perhaps could be described as acoustic & electric guitar based traditional rock. The song structures tend to be quiet verse and soaring vocal, which is more of a pop structure, but her rather raspy voice and the guitars keep it from sounding too much like pop.

Wow, what a voice she has! On the choruses it seems that they have double-recorded her voice to give it added strength, but I like the effect, because it adds to the power of the choruses. Her singing blows me away!

The emotions on this album are powerful. The quieter moments are times of heartfelt intimacy with God, and the soaring choruses are magnificently grand. My favorite is "Matter Of Time," about meeting Jesus face to face. When I hear this one, the music almost lifts me off the ground and on my way up to heaven!

Other reviewers have given glimpses of the words, so I will not repeat here, but I will chime in that the words on this album are every bit as fabulous as the music. The themes of the album are submission to God and deep love for Him. This girl is head over heels in love with Jesus! None of the songs on this album are "praise & worship" songs in the sense that they are made for singing in churches, yet listening to this album is an intense worship experience.

When this album first came out, I was so excited about it I took it to my Bible study group and had them all sing "Forever" (my second favorite song on this album). They liked it so much that two of them went out and bought the CD. Those two don't even like the same kind of music I do, which goes back to my earlier point, that this album is so good, even if it's not your style of music, chances are you will like it if you want a deep worship experience.

One year of listening to this and still going...it's a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Music, September 13, 2004
This review is from: Take Me Away (Audio CD)
This is a very good CD. All the songs are uplifting and spiritual. It has a variety of different styles such as slow praise and worship songs to fast songs. The lyrics are powerful and are meaningful to many people. Sarah Kelly's voice is also amazing and she is a talented young lady. My personal favorite song would have to be "Living Hallelujah". The lyrics describe how we should act and be as Christians and it means a lot to me.

I just recently got this CD and am very glad I did. The best song by far is the opening track 1 "Take me Away." Sarah Kelly has an amazing voice and her heart for God is apparent. Full of heartfelt worship songs. Another of my favorites is "Faithful Father." awesome lyrics. Very good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christian Rock Soloist!, August 21, 2004
This review is from: Take Me Away (Audio CD)
Sarah Kelly's "Take Me Away" does just that--takes you away to God's glory, rejoicing in grace sufficient and love everlasting. A worshipful experience, this music helped my walk so much. I truly listened to this disc almost every single day for two months (it even made the short list for my deployment to Baghdad! ;-) Every track is blessed with an excellent melody, beat, and different rock style. This first disc is an impressive debut indeed--I can only pray her future releases will match up. There's no hurry though--this current release is enough on its own. ;-)
A literary critic once said to read the great books first; a corollary is: listen to the great songs first, and I add, "include Sarah Kelly among them!"

When I initially listened to Sarah's debut album at a bookstore through $10 headphones in '04, I was immediately blown away. The power and conviction in her voice stunned me. I absolutely believed every word she was singing as being her experience in her relationship with God. I cried tears listening to the powerful "Pleaes Forgive Me", followed by "Faithful Father", and "A Matter of Time". Like other reviewers have also said, the experience of being immersed into "Take Me Away", ttok me away into the presence of God.

I immediately purchased this CD and couldn't stop listening. I have since had the opportunity to meet Sarah, and she is sincere and pretty intense. It's not just the singing voice. She is intensely passionate about her relationship with the One who rescued her from pain into joy overflowing.

She did not perform "Please Forgive Me" that night but did say that her next album will have that kind of bluesy rock feel through much of it. It is due out in August and I can hardly wait.

She is as authentic as they come and her music reflects that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sarah Kelly takes us away into worship, March 24, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Take Me Away (Audio CD)
Take Me Away...for Sarah Kelly today it's the name of her rockin' worshipful debut from Gotee. For Sarah when she was 14 it was a plead to be litterally taken away. However, Sarah Kelly emerges safe, sound and happy in this debut, overcoming her self-esteen problems from her teen years. And we are certiantly thankful for that!

I heard about Sarah Kelly through tobyMac's website. Toby actually knows her becuase she's signed to the record label he owns. I listened to the clips of the internet but decided it wasn't for me. Thankfully, God changed my mind and gave me an apreciation for praise 'n' worship music. I love this rockin' debut becuase it's praise but in a new way.

The albums opener is likely the best from the album, The title track shows the gifts Sarah natrually posesses-power, passion and love. However, some people might not appreicate the uniqueness in Sarah's voice. But for peope with an open mind to whatever goirfy's God, then serviously consider the album! The next track, "With You" sounds similar to "Take me Away" The worship ballad "Living Hallelujah" should challmege you to live for God. Boldy Sarah procliams "I was born to worship". I usually skip past "Forever" but "Life Is" reaches my ears often. So does the next song- the second ballad. "More Than anyone" is fantastic, as the whole album. "Please Forgive Me" is a swinging track that not all audiences will appreciate, but I don't find myself reaching for the skip button too often when I listen to it, likewise with "Faithful Father". "Matter Of Time" has helped me in some way, but, like "Forever" isn't incredibly appealing. Same with the next track, "All I See". But WOW, did you hear she wrote it when she was seven!?!?!?!?!?

Overall, it's a good album. Worshipful, rockin' and passionate. This bubbly, strawberry maned praise singer deserves her Gram nomination. Thanks for taking us away into worship, Sarah!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, June 22, 2004
This review is from: Take Me Away (Audio CD)
This is a great album from beginning to finish. It is the kind of worship music that makes you want to get up and dance. "Matter of Time and "Take me away" are especially powerful, with strong lyrics and a vocal performance that shows you how to truly worship God.

If you ever get a chance to see Sarah Kelly in concert, you will enjoy it. She is even more dynamic in person, where you can see her love for God.

A great new artist with messages we all need to hear over and over again.

I recently had the privilege of hearing Sarah Kelly's music for the first time. What a treat!

I picked up this CD and have listened to it numerous times since then. She has a unique and delightful sound. Her songs are all focused on praising the Creator of the Universe.

If you haven't heard her before, I would highly recommend this CD. There are no bad songs on this record. My personal favorites are: 'Take Me Away', 'Forever', and 'Matter Of Time'.

Buy it and enjoy!
