About the Author

John Bryan edited this anthology while on the staff of the American Sportsfishing Association. He has written for Sports Illustrated, Field & Stream, Gray's Sporting Journal, and other magazines. His books include The James River in Richmond, for which he received the James River Association's Guardian of the River Award.


John Bryan has written for Sports Illustrated and Field Stream, and is also the author of The James River. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Jimmy Carter was the thirty-ninth president of the United States (1977 1981) and was the 2002 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He lives in Plains, Georgia.

Howell Raines worked at the New York Times from 1978 to 2003, ultimately serving as executive editor of the paper. He lives in Henryville, Pennsylvania.

Great writing--mostly fly fishing stories about the natural beauty and humor of being out fishing. I strongly recommend this book to fishers and non-fishers alike.
