Best collection of Al Green songs, ever!, September 28, 2000
This review is from: Take Me to the River (Audio CD)
This is the best Al Green anthology produced to date! Finally, there's "Strong As Death (Sweet As Love)" available. This particular track (originally recored in 1974, on the back of one of Al's hit tunes), really gives you Al at his best. So, for all of you true AL Green fans, check it out as you listen to this 2- CD set which is worth whatever price you pay for it! You won't be sorry. It should have been named "Al Green at his best." I should know because I have everything Al has come out with, both R&B and gospel!

...there's a goings-on goin' on..., August 16, 2001
This review is from: Take Me to the River (Audio CD)
...there are some shortcomings in the sound quality on a couple of songs and if you are a serious Al Green fan then you probably already own most of the material on this release, especially on disc 1, but come on now...THIS IS THE BEST COLLECTION OF HIS MATERIAL TO DATE!...you have the meat of most of his classics and the gravy of some of his lesser-knowns. HERE I AM (COME AND TAKE ME) is an ultimate slow-burner for me, PLUS: HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART? RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW? this album is butter!
