5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Exciting, and a Great Read!!, October 26, 2006
This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. The main characters were made for each other. From the very beginning I was rooting for them. Karin was just a CPA who had a boring life, boring job and boring boyfriend. Until she learns the bosses want her to woo the famous JB Dubois into signing with their company. Karin starts to realize how much of an asset she is to her superiors. JB sees the realness in Karin and realizes he has to have her review his finances which are in such disarray because he literally gives money away to his friends and family because of the poverty he sees in his home Island. From the moment the two meet, sparks fly high! I have read Ms. Esdaile's novels before, but this is my favorite so far. Once the two realize they are made for each other, the senuality drips off the pages and You cannot help but to feel the heat! I need to book a trip to St. Lucia and find my "JB"!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I would have given it 9 stars!, April 29, 2007
This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
Here I go again. I just wrote a review for 'Sister Got Game' by this amazing, Philly author. I didn't think 'Chick-Lit' writing could get any better and Leslie has done it again and raised the bar. I love everything about her books and 'Take Me There' did not disappoint. I wanted to fly to Saint Lucia tomorrow! Reading this book made me want to find my own true love and take the chance on love again. I am a fan for life!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Could have been 5 stars, November 8, 2011
This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
This book was a very good read, and would have given it 5 stars but I was quite distracted by the dialect/slang which was supposedly St.Lucian.. One of our languages, spoken by most is Patois, which has a very strong French influence. I am a St.Lucian by birth, and have lived here all my life. Alot of the dialect does not represent St.Lucian way of speaking, but rather represents other nationalities. This is why I found some of the conversations distracting and it took away from the full enjoyment of this book. Even it this is a work of fiction, knowing that this represents your country can make it disconcerting, especially if it is incorrect. I liked Ms Esdaile's discriptive writing of St.Lucia, and it was on point, even the actual/non fictional names of places, like Buzz Restaurant. I would definitely read another of Ms Esdaile's book

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Great! Great!, February 15, 2010

This review is from: Take Me There (Kindle Edition)
This book is one of the best romance novels I've ever read. It is funny, sexy, romantic all of the things that make a great book. If you're like me you don't want to keep reading the same descriptions over and over again, well this book didn't have any of that nonsense, it is very well written. The characters are true to life, believable, engaging. I think these people really exist. Believe me when I tell you, you won't go wrong with this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sukiyaki...all right!, December 24, 2009

This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
I am biased, my first Leslie Esdaile book was "Better Than", and that book was THE ultimate romance book for me, I was hesitant about reading earlier works by her, fearing they wouldn't deliver - glad I was wrong! I ordered the 3 pack from Amazon, "Sister Got Game", "Keeping it Real" and this one. Out of the three, this is my favorite. Karin was so much fun, it was great to see her step up & take a chance. And Lordy Jacque! Whew - the scene on the boat - straight fiyah! I agree with another reviewer, it ended much too quickly for me, I wanted more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful!, November 17, 2009
This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
This is the second book that I've read by Leslie and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! I was a little leery about reading any of her other books after Sister Got Game for fear of being disappointed. This book was just as good as that book and I'm so glad that I gave it a chance. I loved the characters especially Karin. I was so happy when she kicked her doctor boyfriend to the curb. The story was well written and it had an excellent plot. The characters were well developed and the story flowed really well. I especially liked the fact that there weren't any editing issues. I enjoyed this story so much so I highly recommend it to those who have yet to read it. It's been out a while but who cares lol. You'll be disappointed when you come to the last page....it's that good!

This is one of my all time favorite books. I've loaned it to two other people and told them that they MUST return this one. Jacques is so surprising and so wonderful. Both Karin and Jacques are likeable and smart and your heart will swell for them. Read this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Me There, took me there..., March 9, 2009

This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
How vividly does a painted gray sky-scrape, long sulking faces, and the co-worker with the nae to every yae wisps a reader like me through an opening chapter, forgetting that I was even reading romance. I didn't realize what I was reading until I got to the end and actually turned the book over to read the back excerpt. All I knew, I was engaged from the opening... painting a mood I know all too well, to Karin & Lloyd... and good Lord if that exchange at the concert between her & Lloyd didn't tickle me... to the dialogue between her and her mother... where Karin of course set her straight too... to the very end caught up around Karin and the luv.

I've never come across a romance read as short, wrapping up as smooth, and coming across so believable! It had to be that opening, Esdaile speaking a language I know all too well (...raggedy as a bowl of yock - LOL)!

What else can I say but what a tease... wheeling readers in and spitting them out before they know it! The perfect beach read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!!, February 4, 2009
This review is from: Take Me There (Paperback)
I don't know where to start. The intensity between Karin and JB was beyond the physical. It was the merging of two souls that connected on a spiritual level. It was as if they had been looking for each other, without even knowing it. This was truly one of the most romantic stories I have ever read. I stayed up all night just to finish it. I really couldn't put it down. I have read most of Ms. Esdaile books and I originally thought that River of the Soul and Still Waters Run Deep were my favorites. Now I must say this is by far my most favorite. She used metaphors to describe the their emotions very similar to the way she did in Love Lessons. I love the way she writes.
