5.0 out of 5 stars Rare & Beautiful CD By John Denver!!!, March 9, 2007
This review is from: Take Me To Tomorrow (Audio CD)
Take Me to Tomorrow will come as a surprise to anyone expecting the pretty folk music and "listen to the wisdom of the children" lyrics usually associated with John Denver. The album, with its comparatively heavy folk-rock sound married to good lyrics, strives for the realism and capital "I" importance of Paul Simon, or even Phil Ochs, without the blatant politics. Denver tackles two Tom Paxton songs, including "Forest Lawn," a wry swipe at the cemetery business that echoes Evelyn Waugh's classic novel The Loved One. Pretty folk isn't entirely absent -- "Aspenglow" is the cut that is usually included on anthologies. According to the liner notes, Take Me to Tomorrow and Denver's solo debut, Rhymes & Reasons, combine to replicate his concert performance circa 1969, with Rhymes & Reasons comprising the lighter first-half of the show, and Take Me to Tomorrow the more rousing and cerebral second-half. Viewed from that perspective, the album accomplishes its goal, but it is not a typical John Denver album and is sure to delight fans old and new! Shame that this disc is so rare and hard to find, as so many of his albums are! Tracks are as follows: 1)Take Me To Tomorrow 2)Isabel 3)Follow Me(Original Version) 4)Forest Lawn 5)Aspenglow 6)Amsterdam(same song that David Bowie recorded) 7)Anthem-Revelation 8)Sticky Summer Weather 9)Carolina In My Mind(James Taylor) 10)Jimmy Newman and 11)Molly. This is one of my favorite John Denver albums and is rare & hard to find-good luck! (Excerpts courtesy of AMG)

5.0 out of 5 stars Not on CD yet, March 4, 2010
This review is from: Take Me To Tomorrow (Audio CD)
This is one of two JD albums (the other is "Aerie") that has not been reissued in CD form yet. Come on RCA. This album is really good and it is a mystery as to why RCA chose not to issue this on CD. Some great songs here. The original "Follow Me" which should have been a hit single, "Aspenglow" and "Sticky Summer Weather"

Plays fine despite the warping. Arrived as stated. I missed this music, but now I have it again. If you send LPs again may I suggest encasing them in cardboard so they don't get bent or broken.
