Amazon Top 20 bestseller crime novel

From international bestselling author Seb Kirby, TAKE NO MORE is a captivating story of crime, corruption and duplicity. It is a must-read for fans of Harlan Coben, Daniel Silva and all who enjoy a thought provoking and exciting thriller.

An artistic voyage in crime - thrilling and original

When James Blake discovers his wife murdered in their London home, he is determined to find her killer. As the prime suspect, he flees England and sets out on a journey that takes him to Florence and Venice and into a dark underworld of corruption, a trail that will lead him to the killer - and the shocking truth behind the mystery.

Praise for Take No More:

★★★★★ 'Wow! This is action-packed from page one, and the reader is instantly thrust into murder, suspense, and intrigue...... I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great crime thriller! And fans of Harlan Coben and Simon Kernick will love it!' - (Author Sibel Hodge, amazon.com)

★★★★★ 'It was a few pages before I realized what I was reading: a sort of modern noir. I walked in the hero's shoes, was privy to his thoughts and intruded on his emotions as he was drawn into the mystery of his wife's death. Kirby's spare yet rich prose, his perfect word choices, made this a work that appeared to be effortlessly constructed. That seamlessness is the hallmark of a gifted writer. Definitely recommended.' (International bestseller Rebecca Forster, amazon.com)

★★★★★ 'If you like Daniel Silva, you'll love 'Take No More' .....my favorite kind of thriller...' (International bestseller Libby Fischer Hellmann, amazon.com)

★★★★★ 'The comparisons with Harlan Coben are well merited because this is a gripping thriller in the same vein. It begins with the aftermath of a violent act and doesn't let up until the end. As an author who always aims for momentum and suspense myself, I take my hat off to Kirby.' (International bestseller John Harding, amazon.com)

Reader reviews:

'Memorable characters with murder, organised crime, Italy and art....'

'There is much to admire about Seb Kirby's knowledge of the art world and there's plotting and deceit in the criminal underworld to contend with too.'

'I really liked the main character, James Blake and his fearless pursuit of the truth.'

'I loved the inclusion of a more modern evil... along with the search for lost classic art and the romantic tale of James Blake, who loved his wife very much...'

'Take great art of the Italian Renaissance, throw in a 21st century crime family reminiscent of the Borgias, a trace of darkness, a lot of murder and you have a good read for a rainy day....'

'Mystery and the arts - a great combo. The art world depiction was fascinating.... Made me want to visit the Louvre again.'

Seb Kirby's Take No More is an excellent read. Combine memorable characters with murder, organized crime, Italy and art, throw in a few plot twists and you have a great story. Mr. Kirby's next novel is already on my 'to be read' list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully crafted November 8, 2011
By Ignite
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a wonderful novel from a new author and I hope it will be the first of many. The plot moves fast and often surprisingly. There is much to admire about Seb Kirby's knowledge of the art world and there's plotting and deceipt in the criminal underworld to contend with too. Seb is a master at writing emotion without overdoing it. He can make you feel the full jolt under the heart from bereavement, the lack of purpose felt by those who experience it, but he is never soppy about it. He can also express utter joy in a way many authors would love to be able to do.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a very satisfying read from an intelligent and talented author. More, please.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take no More January 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Take no More" has a well crafted plot with a neat ironic twist at the end Kirby has an intimate knowledge of Florence, Venice, Milan and all things Italian. The story takes us to famous galleries and museums and winds its way through back streets and canals. The flow of language improves as the plot unfolds. There is good pacing and the characters are believable.
An excellent debut novel

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story - beautiful setting January 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mr. Kirby has written a noir-ish mystery thriller which will suck you into the seamy underworld of intrigue and passion. Set mostly in Florence, you will wander the streets with James as he tries to track down the murderer of his wife. As a suspect himself, he must rely on his own wits as he becomes embroiled in the world of a crime lord.

The story leads you through several twists and turns. The characters are well-drawn, and the descriptions of the settings are impeccable. You quickly realize Mr. Kirby has intimate knowledge of every street, café, and hotel identified in the story, and he brings the locations alive for the reader. The details and intricacy along with the factual lessons about art conservation make the tale believable and very enjoyable.

An excellent thriller from a new author. Give it a try. I think you'll be delighted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Four + One = Ten September 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
No, my math isn't fuzzy. Combine a great 4 star story full of exotic locations (that the author obviously knows intimately), fabulously drawn characters and an excellent and inventive plot, add an extra star for Seb Kirby's style and that gives you ten on the readability scale. The book veers from first to third person expertly but, for this reader, the first person tone was most enthralling. It was a few pages before I realized what I was reading: a sort of modern noir. Definitely recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take No More by Seb Kirby May 1, 2011
By Sue P
Format:Kindle Edition
This is an outstanding debut novel by Seb Kirby.
He captivates the reader from the first page, and remains gripping and compelling throughout.I could not put this book down.
Listed under Murder,Mystery and Thriller but so much more than that. The geography of London and Florence was handled very well to add richness to the novel, alongside the Authors' obvious love and knowledge of the art world .In addition to this, the reader is taken into the Italian underworld weaving a web of corruption, deceit, secrets and murder around the whole plot .
If you enjoy a really good Thriller,in the style of Sidney Sheldon with extras, and are prepared to be kept on the edge of your seat throughout, this book is a definite must!
I am eagerly awaiting the next novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Work of Art. September 14, 2012
By J.R.W.
Format:Kindle Edition
Take no More is a master plot. It has the best twist and plot shock I've come across in a long while!
Set in Florence, Venice and London, not only is it an artful murder mystery but a lot of the subject matter concerning the old classic's and their history; is based on fact.
Julia Blake is an art conservator, hoping to find a famous classic. I was interested to learn that many of these `lost' paintings, such as the one featured in the story `Leda and the Swan' were very often painted over to save them from being destroyed. Julia is using a newly developed scanning technique, desperate for a breakthrough in her career.
When James Blake finds his wife murdered, there begins a complicated unravelling of her work and James becomes caught up with the powerful, dangerous Italian family Julia was working for.
The locations are wonderful. I do like to get a feel for a place so I would have loved more of the rich grandeur of Venice and Florence to have come through in the narrative, but that's just me.
A great story, and thoroughly recommended.

More About the Author

Seb Kirby is the author of the James Blake Thriller series (TAKE NO MORE, REGRET NO MORE and FORGIVE NO MORE) and the Raymond Bridges sci fi thriller series (DOUBLE BIND).

He says: "I've been an avid reader from an early age - my grandfather ran a mobile lending library in Birmingham and when it closed my parents inherited many of the books. From the first moment I was hooked. Now, as a full-time writer myself, it's my goal to add to the magic of the wonderful words and stories I discovered back then.

"I was thrilled to work with narrator Shiromi Arserio to produce the audio book of TAKE NO MORE. Her perceptive and clear reading voice brings the characters to life in a way I'm sure you will enjoy. And did you know you can now link the audio book and Kindle versions to seamlessly switch between listening and reading whenever you wish?"
