To understand David Horowitz and his confrontational approach to the Left, we have to remember that he understands the Progressive mind so much because he used to be a card carrying member of their movement. He knows what they think, what they intend, how they go about it, and what they are after. Many Conservatives and Moderates find his writings, speeches, and appearances on TV and radio to be extreme because we tend to view the attacks of the Left as ignorant, bad manners, and even crazy at times. But as Mr. Horowitz notes, if they are so crazy why have they been the majority party for all but twelve years since the end of WWII? True, the GOP has won the Whitehouse more often, but we only had the Senate periodically, and didn't take back the House until 1994 (and then lost it to Pelosi in 2006 until ObamaCare helped us take it back in 2010).

Horowitz points out that this isn't a debating society. The Left plays for keeps and portrays everyone who opposes them as evil and seeks to destroy them all the while decrying the politics of personal destruction. It is a dance that they have perfected and are abetted in its intricacies by the media. Conservatives keep thinking that the sheer weight of the evidence from history of socialism's failures will carry the day, but it won't. Why? On page 8 Horowitz writes: "Why do progressives not see that the future they are promoting has already failed elsewhere? First, because they see history as something to transcend, not as providing a reservoir of experience from which they must learn. Second, because in their eyes the future is an idea that has not yet been tried. If socialism failed in Europe, it's because they weren't the ones implementing it, and the conditions weren't right to make it work.

This book outlines a winning philosophy for Conservative and Patriotic politicians running for office. Every GOP Politician should at least read this book. It is time for them to cowboy-up and take the case to the low-info voters about how they are being used. If they are using a machine gun, then bring out the howitzer. Our kids will have no future when controlled by low IQ nanny bureaucrats and greedy politicians selling their votes to the their already rich Democrat cronies. Even the welfare that Democrats push will be taking a beating when our total GDP goes to just paying interest on the debt they have run up.

Most who follow politics in America see that Democrats play to win but that Republicans fight back with nowhere near the same level of intensity. As a result, government has grown to gargantuan levels and we have traveled a long way down the road from liberty to tyranny. Like millions of other Americans, David Horowitz deplores this development--he wrote this volume that offers a sage plan that the GOP could take into battle.

Conservatives sometimes naïvely think that if they offer superior solutions to our nation's problems they will automatically prevail at the ballot box. Horowitz, however, opines on the factor that he thinks really swings elections and shows where the Republicans fall short in influencing that factor. The author notes that the standard array of attacks by Democrats has not changed in decades, but, remarkably, in all that time the GOP has never found effective rejoinders.

Horowitz points out liberal failures in foreign policy and describes at length how on the domestic front liberal policies have hurt those who the Left claims to help. In spite of that, liberals see themselves as morally superior to conservatives, and because they do, adopt an ends-justifies-the-means ethos in implementing their plans. The author provides the all-important tips on how conservatives could effectively and persuasively argue in moral terms themselves and at long last turn the tables. Also included is a chapter concerning unity between the Tea Party and the Republican Party.

Conservatives and Republicans pride themselves on being problem-solvers and solution-oriented, but continually fall down in finding a solution to a (the?) task of prime importance--doing whatever it takes to expose as false the fraudulent Moral Superiority pose liberals and Democrats adopt. David Horowitz's "Take No Prisoners" should be required reading for all GOP presidential candidates in preparation for 2016.

I have been a big David Horowitz fan from the days of "Destructive Generation." As with most of his books, every Republican from presidential candidates down (or up) to precinct committeeman and committeewoman should read this book. As Horowitz makes clear, we are not facing JFK's political party anymore. Republicans and Democrats used to see eye to eye on many issues. Today, however, socialists have taken control of the Democratic Party (for more on this, search for "Chapter 19: Defeating the Socialist Coalition and Restoring Our Constitutional Republic" on Amazon) and we are now facing not just a mere political party, but a movement that will not stop until it has completely eviscerated the U.S. Constitution.

Horowitz outlines how we can fight back against that movement. And fight we must, no more of this nonsense where Mitt Romney says that Barack Obama is a "good person." Obama and other Democrats are not good people and we need to make the voters understand that.

While attacking the Democrats, Horowitz also suggests a unifying idea for conservatives. I won't give away that idea here, but I agree that it is one that can unify conservatives and libertarians. Unless we unite, there is little chance that we can defeat the socialists/progressives.
