This review is from: Take This Job & Shove / Armed & Crazy (2-For-1) (Audio CD)
This is a worthy successor to the first Raven Records Paycheck twofer - good songs, outstanding sound quality, informative liner notes, and overall a great value. The first Raven twofer contained as bonus tracks the first 5 tracks (side 1) of the Epic LP "Mr Hag Told My Story." This CD contains side 2 of that album as bonus tracks, thus making both CDs "twofers and a half." Keep it coming!

Johnny Paycheck's Comeback Song...,

This review is from: Take This Job & Shove / Armed & Crazy (2-For-1) (Audio CD)
Take This Job and Shove It, the recording that launched Johnny Paycheck into stardom, the working man's anthem steadily written by David Allan Coe. This album rolls right on down the line with honky-tonk melodies of the good ol' days and ways, - "4F Blues", "Spirits Of St.louis", "Georgia In A Jug", "Barstool Mountain", "Bowling Green", "Colorado Kool-aid",...there's something about Johnny Paycheck singing a ballad, his true colors are revealed on the, "Fool Strikes Again",...this is the 1977 Epic recording that brought Paycheck back to life after the legendary "Little Darlin" years, essential. The follow up Epic record, Armed And Crazy, 1979, not alot to say except, not one of Paycheck's better efforts, though it's one of the singer's harder to find albums - included on this RAVEN CD are five bonus songs from the scarce album "Hag, You Told My Story In That Song", the audio is good, could stand to be a little louder, Australian import.
