Marcia Lynn McClure is a very talented writer. This book is basically clean. She does use mild swearing like using the h*** word and a** word when her character Jesse gets really upset about Cozy being touched inappropriately by a patron. McClure seems to believe in old fashion values and incorporates a manly man who could isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty. My only complaint is that she didn't give us an epilogue, but I am greedy when it comes to my epilogues - always wanting a little bit more. :-)

After my disappointment with The Highwayman of Tanglewood, I was once more enraptured with this modern day love story. Cozy is very close to her grandmother, Dottie, a widow in her sixties. They are both enthralled when a widower, Buck, also in his sixties, moves in next door. Buck has a very handsome grandson, Jesse. This is a lovely double story of how the grandchildren scheme to bring their grandparents together, and the grandparents are also colluding to bring their grandchildren together! Set during fall and winter, with descriptions of trees and Christmas decorations, it is a lovely tale, one which I could not put down until I had reached the ending (happy or not? read it and find out!).

What a cute story. I especially liked the "mature" romance. Even us oldies like to read about romance in our group. It entertained me. I hated to see it end.

Then you will love this book. The first half of the book kind of drove me crazy. The women kept giggling and the men kept winking, until I finally groaned out loud and said, "Give me a break." I kept reading though. There was little to no conflict, but this was in its self part of the story so I don't really mind. The romantic parts had my heart doing little happy skips by the end of the story, when most of the giggling and winking was over. If you don't mind a little cheese with lots and lots of mulled cider, you'll enjoy this book.

note to the author: do a search for wink(ed) and giggle(d)/giggling in your original manuscript. You might be surprised at the number of results.

I absolutely love McClure books!!! She describes a great kiss and leaves the rest to imagination!! This was a clean book about falling in love. I am always a bit disappointed when her books come to an end. There are no great bad guys in this book it is just a simple romance. WONDERFUL as always!!

The characters and situations were simply too perfect for me to have any identification with at all!! Any story needs a conflict to overcome so that the main characters can live HEA but there wasn't even a little conflict anywhere in the story!! Cozy and Jess had everything in common, shared the same value system, religion, even his grandfather and her grandmother fall in love!! (I'm not giving anything away; this is all clear from the first chapter which is another thing I didn't like about this story!!!)

I was also very offended by the way the author put down women who put up with sexual harassment because they didn't have any other options!!! There are women for whom losing that lousy job where they are being harassed would mean not only they would be sleeping in a car with no heat but her three children, one of which has a bad chest cold but she had no money for a doctor, would be out on the street with her!!! Or a medical student who was harassed by an attending who, if she reported him, she would be thrown out of school and would not only lose her dream of being a doctor but would bankrupt her family paying back over $250,000+interest that they would now owe!! There are thousands of other examples as well!!!!

Another point I found both unrealistic and offensive was the author's expression that the only way to have a true love, intimate marriage is if one waits to have sexual relations until after the ceremony!! Again, I find the author's adolescent viewpoint impossible to fit into today's world, even for modern teenagers, let alone a 60 year old grandmother like myself!!!

10*s. I won a paperback copy of this book directly from the author in return for an honest review.
Once again, I find myself stepping out of my genre and searching into other genres.
This book is amazing, and I can't believe how well written and fantastic it truely is!! It's a christmas story with a budding romance of two generations and it has a lovely and tear filled happy ending!! I enjoyed the humor and the characters so much I felt like part of the story and could watch and see everything they were seeing in my mind!! This is a MUST read fabulous book for YA and Adults and it will fill your heart with happiness and the christmas spirit!! Thank you, Marcia Lynn McClure, for this amazing book and allowing me to take a walk with you!!

Very silly. There was a great deal of winking (by everyone), chuckling (by the men), and giggling (by the women). There was no conflict to speak of. It was about a girl falling in love with a boy, and a grandma-aged woman falling in love with a grandpa-aged man. Usually I adore MLM's Heroes, but I couldn't figure this one out, as he likened himself to a wolf, but exhibited no wolfish tendencies. Not my favorite book by MLM.
