Through Ronnies creativeness and powerful growth as a recording artist, composer, producer, and musician, once again we see him reached into his bag to create songs that are mixed with contemporary and traditional blues influences. This demonstrates Ronnies versatility and originality at his fullest".
Chicago, IL Watchdog Records is proud to announce Ronnie Baker Brooks new CD, "TAKE ME WITCHA".
TAKE ME WITCHA was produced by Ronnie and production veteran Jellybean Johnson (The Time). The release features 15 original tracks, and was recorded at Angel Beach Studios in Minneapolis, MN and Cotton Row Studios in Memphis, TN.
TAKE ME WITCHA has an impressive list of guest performers. A landmark moment is captured with Ronnies Dad Lonnie Brooks, when the father and son perform a soulful acoustic song titled "I Laugh to keep from Crying". Jellybean Johnson also joins Ronnie on the rocking track, "Bring Back the Love" which sends a powerful message about todays issues.
TAKE ME WITCHA showcases powerful performances from three outstanding rhythm sections: former New Power Generations (Prince) Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson, and Chance Howard (currently with Morris Day & The Time): Ernest Williamson, Dave Smith, and Steve Potts (from "Golddigger"): and Vic Jackson, Daryl Coutts, and Jerry Porter (Buddy Guy), Ronnies current touring band. Stephanie Bolton provides the soulful background vocal (Lenny Kravitz).
"TAKE ME WITCHA is a special gift of appreciation to my fans. Thank you for your love and support." states Ronnie.

Nice Follow Up To Golddigger!,

Ronnie Baker Brooks continues to do the blues his own way on his own terms. Unlike his father Lonnie Brooks who records for Alligator records, Ronnie remains unsigned and releases his material on Watchdog records through his website. Continuing what he started on his debut release "Golddigger", Ronnie again teams with Jellybean Johnson for the production duties. The CD clocks in at just over 68 minutes and contains 15 original tunes including, "I Laugh To Keep From Crying" which features Poppa Brooks on guitar and vocals. The disc contains a good mixture of rocking blues-"I Had My Chance", shuffles-"Take Me Witcha", R&B-"Do You Love Me Baby", instrumentals-"Pick Power" and slow blues-"It Takes A Smart Man To Play Dumb". The guitar solo's burn throughout and Brooks tones are reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan at times and Jimi Hendrix ("Set Me Free") at others. Ronnie gives fans their money's worth on entertainment value and he is certainly a musician that deserves broader attention.

This is a great Cd. Ronnie is a smokin guitar player.I liked the CD better than Goldigger but it is very good also. What you want to stay away from is his DVD. it is very poorly put together. His words do not match the music. It is like a early Bruce Lee movie. They made the DVD then tried to dubed the music over it. Dont waste ur money on it.

Ronnie Baker Brooks - An Underappreciated Blues Artist,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Take Me Witcha (Audio CD)
Ronnie Baker Brooks is the son of Chicago blues legend Lonnie Brooks. Although not as well known, I think Ronnie is an even better guitarist than his father. On this his second studio album Ronnie cranks up the guitar for a freewheeling blues feast. Brooks' style is definitely influenced by Jimmy Hendrix, although the music on this disc is really all over the place. The album covers traditional blues, Chicago blues, soul, R & B, hard rock and is even metal oriented in places. A veritable smorgasbord of guitar shredding. Ronnie also has a great blues voice which fits his material perfectly. Special guest on the album include Jellybean Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, and Memphis Willie. Overall this is a very strong album from an artist that should be a lot better known than he is in the blues world.
