The Clinton Administration consists of some of today’s brightest stars in the world of jam bands. This loose contingent of highly talented players has gotten to together for the second time to record some of the greatest songs from the catalog of Sly and The Family Stone. Stanton Moore (Galactic), Charlie Hitchcock (Particle), Robert Walter, Chuck Prada and Cochemea Gastelum from 20th Congress; and Eric Levy, Fareed Haque and Kai Eckhardt from Garaj Mahal all join guitar great, Michael Lee Firkins, to put new life into some of Sly’s best material. The songs are familiar but the grooves are new. The Clinton Administration has the talent to make the arrangements fresh and the soul to make you remember how special these songs are.

This disc is smokin'. The songs are close enough to the originals to be recognizable but distinct enough that the disc is worth listening too. My only complaint is that on some of the songs a vocalist would have been nice but I'll take it as is. I just finished listening to it for the first time and already I am looking forward to the next time I get to groove to this disc. Any fan of Sly and the Family Stone or funky tunes in general should get this disc. If you want a quick listen check out I Want to Take You Higher, Thank You, and Sing a Simple Song
