Go to Europe with the help you need!,

This review is from: Take Your Kids to Europe, 6th: How to Travel Safely (and Sanely) in Europe with Your Children (Paperback)
Harriman does a great job spelling Europe out... how it really is. I especially like the"Totally Biased" reports on areas at the end of the book. I was also grateful for some money saving tips. Harriman says that the book is not for those who have the money to come back and try it all again next summer and that certainly is not us! This is the "Once in a life time" help we needed. We have 5 kids, and 7 in Europe seemed like an impossible dream, but we did it! Why only 4 stars? It is a good book that admitted that it needed to be paired with other travel books. I wish there was a good travel book with kids (and kids at heart) in mind. We do use and like Rick Steves books.

I read this book when I was starting to plan a trip for our family and I am really glad that I was lucky enough to start with this one. There are some specifics for different countries (England, France, etc) which are extremely helpful for finding appropriate activities for families, but the most helpful section is the more general information on planning a trip. How to pack for different types of travel, how to negotiate an itinerary and what are reasonable expectations. This book gave me the courage to plan a fantastic trip for our family myself and we had a great time.

Leave this book at the store,

I knew I was in trouble with this book when the author said she could not be bothered with European train schedules and therefore provided NO information about train travel with kids. Instead, there are pages about buying a car to avoid rental prices! Our trip was train-based and we highly recommend the trains. We left this book and all its irrelevant information at home, and recommend you do too.
