5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the lists I'm constantly making August 19, 2011
Verified Purchase
I am constantly making lists, so for that purpose this seems to fill the bill. I don't require it to do anything complicated, so I like the simplicity of this little program. Had been waiting for something like it to come along for Kindle.

Also it will be good for making quick notes of good quotations I run across that I want to capture for future reference. (Much better than using random small scraps of paper.)

Thanks for this new product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Buddy September 1, 2011
By Tina

I almost love this app. I use it for a lot of things. To do lists, goals, plans, whatever I am thinking, outlines.
One of the best uses I have for it is dream documenting.
I keep my Kindle on a table by my bed, and if I wake up from exciting dreams I write them down immediately.
I am not sure of the max characters compared to the Notepad app, but it seems to hold a pretty good about of characters before I have to move on to the next note for a long dream, if I need to start a new note at all.

I would say the navigation is a little cruddy, but oh well that's not too big of an issue.

Also, I don't punctuate too much aside from periods because I cannot type while the symbol menu is up. Oh well. I don't care about punctuation when I am making a note or writing a dream. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good note app June 8, 2013
Verified Purchase
I wondered what note app I have to buy and I'm happy that I chose this one.Though it has some bad points , its update history shows that the support is doing good job advancing the application and fixing bugs.So we can hope that the developer keep the good support. Here are some points that I think are important about TakeNote:

1.It doesn't have the 3100 character limit.I saw this in reviews for other note applications but looks like this one doesn't suffer from this issue.

2.Autocomplete is not working when you're writing a note , which I hope will be solved in next updates.

3.There is no calendar therefore no daily tasks or diary.

4.You can have unlimited notebooks with unlimited notes in each of them.

5.You can move the cursor anywhere in the note just by tapping the screen. You can also select a whole word by double tapping on that word.

6.It saves the last date you changed your note but doesn't keep the time you changed your note.

7.Sometimes the keyboard doesn't show up neither by tapping the screen nor by tapping on the "edit mode" icon. This is a bit annoying.

8.The help does not include images that makes it a little bit difficult to understand.

9.There is "Save as ..." option which lets you change your note and save it as a new note with new title.

10.You are able to edit your notes from computer but you can't copy new notes to your kindle. You have to first create them on TakeNote then
edit them by using a software like "notepad" or "vim".(Actually you can copy new notes to your kindle but you have to play around with
this .json file and create an id for the new note which is time consumer.)

11.You can export a notebook to an html file.

3.0 out of 5 stars certifies you dont want to exit without saving September 13, 2011
Verified Purchase
i like the feature of it asking if you are sure you want to exit without saving. and the note stays on screen even if kindle goes to sleep before you return to finish it and click save. i wish there was a prompt to verify whether you want to cancel note though since only navigation away gets it but not cancel entering and it can happen by accident and be a drag. also the punctuation menu is slow and obstructive nor can you type while it is open. but it sure beats the annotation feature that freezes when the battery is low. i havent lost a note yet to freeze ups even with low battery. It does currently however have a default setting of cancel when editing so intuitive expectation that clicking 5way button down to where save now soft button is would take cursor to that button risks clicking that defaulted cancel if eagerness to save before moving on is strong. And instead you just cancel your edits!!! A paper diary, log, notebook could be hastily closed to answer door, phone, attend to new events, without loss of all data entered. This is an aspect of the app which is just as bad as annotations feature of kindle which also does not ask are you sure you want to navigate away without saving. This is a vulnerability a better note taking app will not have so to compete this needs fixed or it will fall behind other competitors. It also would be nice if notes stored time of day saved as well. So far I have seen no evidence to believe there is such extraneous metadata kept on notes. Good bye.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use this most April 10, 2012
I have Notepsd Plus, Notepad, and this one. I like how it has the notebooks, so I use this a LOT. This makes me more organized in my Kindle, (even though I am very organized already). I would recommend having this!

Perfect addition to my Kindle. Now I can just write a note when something pops up while I am reading my Kindle. I don't have to interrupt my reading to look for pen and paper.

Can the notes be copied to PC ?
Sorry for the late reply. Yes. TakeNote stores notes in plain text, and they can be copied to your PC when your Kindle is connected via USB. Also, TakeNote lets you export your notes to a nicely formatted HTML page that looks like a journal or magazine.

The latest version... Read More
