4.0 out of 5 stars Careful people! It's a reprint., November 16, 2011

It's a great read but it's a reprint of a 2006 book with a pretty new cover. Hate it when they do this and don't tell people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book!, December 1, 2011
This review is from: Taken (Deception Series #1) (Kindle Edition)
Just finished reading this book in one session. From the first page where Kayla and Nick are toasting their marriage, I was intrigued. When Nick disappears, I wasn't sure where the story was going. Then another guy showed up claiming to be the man Kayla married. Lots of twists and turns and complications. A strong villain. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Suspense Romance, December 29, 2011
This review is from: Taken (Deception Series #1) (Kindle Edition)
Barbara Freethy writes intrigue with the best of them. I thought this was a normal romance based on the cover, but it provided an enjoyable read from start to finish. With Nick's disappearance, the novel took off and from there, there were twists and turns to keep you guessing. As far as romance, there were some heated moments, but the book was mostly mystery. Other page turners I would recommend similar to Freethy's books are Stieg Larsson's Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Kailin Gow's Pulse series or Fade series, and James Patterson's Alex Cross books.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCITING and ROMANTIC, February 16, 2012

I never liked mystery stories, but, since I have been an avid reader of Freethy, I gave this series a shot.

I described this as EXCITING because there are so many stories of so many people and it only rooted from a pocket watch and I liked how Freethy injected the ROMANCE of Nick and Kayla in their search of truth.

Freethy has created a story that is very well thought out and that a reader will not only be excited to finish the whole book but the whole series as well. She created characters that are still uncovered until a reader finishes the whole book and should proceed to the next book PLAYED. It gets exciting because of the perfect criminal she created and emotional because of the lovers and their unbelievable adventures together.

I was so tempted to go to the end side of the book just to see how things went, but Im glad i didn't cheat, not a part was boring that i did not notice i was finished and want to read on to the next book.

Good Job for Freethy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't expect this, December 11, 2011

This review is from: Taken (Deception Series #1) (Kindle Edition)
Kayla married Nick after knowing him for only a few weeks. He disappears on their wedding night. Later she meets the real Nick. Turns out the man she married was Evan. He and Nick use to be roommates in collage. Together they try to find Evan and the reason why he married Kayla and took her watch. On their journey they start to develop feelings for each other.

I've read some of Barbra Freethy's books and have to say that I didn't expect this. It's just different. But in a good way. It's not like her other romance novels were she builds the characters and relationships. It's more of a mystery novel with some quick "loving". I did enjoy reading, but I'm not sure if I want to read the next book.

Just finished the book - loved the story and the characters. It is so interesting to see people handle these extraordinary circumstances and Freethy's characters always seem to rise to the challenge! Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
