4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOST AND MAYBE FOUND
The man had an acute allergy to commitment. In fact, so pronounced was his condition that she thought he should wear a Medical Alert bracelet. Nonetheless, here he was saying quite clearly that they should get married.

Julia thought that was absolutely ridiculous. S. T. "Storm" Dalton had already broken her heart not once but three times - count `em three...

2.0 out of 5 stars A waste of time to read this
I got this to take with me on vacation because I wanted a light romance book, something simple. This was a little too simple for me. I was cracking up at how lame the story line was. It followed the typical romance formula to build the heat between the characters, but I was laughing at how ridiculous it was and I couldn't finish it, it was just too much, too...

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOST AND MAYBE FOUND, November 15, 2007
This review is from: Taken by Storm (Loveswept) (Audio CD)
The man had an acute allergy to commitment. In fact, so pronounced was his condition that she thought he should wear a Medical Alert bracelet. Nonetheless, here he was saying quite clearly that they should get married.

Julia thought that was absolutely ridiculous. S. T. "Storm" Dalton had already broken her heart not once but three times - count `em three times. Just when she'd believed they were going to make a life together he had simply disappeared. Vanished into the sunset as they say. Now, she believes she's found happiness and security without him. But, there's was something about S.T. - something she had not been able to resist.

All he wants is two weeks to prove to her that he's a changed man, that he really and truly loves her and that she feels the same way about him. Julia is a trained professional, a trauma nurse used to dealing with surprising, incendiary situations. But, how will she deal with her own heart?

Singer/songwriter Donna Rawlins delivers an aces reading of this story of love - lost and maybe found. A versatile voice performer she can deliver intimacy with a whisper, doubt with a nuance, and exuberance with elan. Listening to Rawlins narrate is as though one were hearing a full cast.

Enjoy!

I was disappointed that this was a reprint from the 90's & it wasn't near as good as here books are now.

1.0 out of 5 stars horrible, January 22, 2008
i have to say this was horrible in my opinion. the heroine is a push over and the hero is selfish and over bearing. if you have read other 80s romances and liked them you will probably like this one and if you didn't then like those then you won't like this one. if you haven't read an 80s romance they generally go like this (and this one is no exception) - young innocent girl falls for older worldly and cynical man who takes her virginity and then leaves (and sometimes comes back and leaves over and over as in this case) and each time the woman/girl takes him back because he is oh so irresistible and she is in love with him and deep down she loves him. the man doesn't take no for an answer when the girl finally tells him to get lost and in stead he does whatever he wants and just ignores her and eventually she gives in to him.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous Story Line, January 28, 2008
Taken by Storm -- Storm was his name! I should have known how contrived this story was. He did unbelievable, romantic things to get Julia's attention. A parade, flowers, M&Ms, a flying stunt. I couldn't wait to finish this book. It dragged on and on. I knew they would end up together, but read on to make sure there wasn't something more to the story. I was really disappointed because I've liked other Tami Hoag books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great, but a fun, quick read, February 5, 2009
Yes, it's a bit too simple and contrived, but I still enjoyed it. I listened to it on CD in my car. The reader made it interesting with her varying accents. You won't learn anything new in this story, but for a quick read with no heavy thinking involved, it does the trick.

1.0 out of 5 stars Want to annoy yourself? Pick this one up., September 5, 2008
I listened to this book as an unabridged audio.

This is an older series romance that has been reprinted probably because Tami Hoag, much like Nora Roberts and Linda Howard, has become popular and better known for their newer mainstream books.

When the man who broke her heart not one but three times shows up on her door out of the blue with a marriage proposal Julia is mad. Apparently, S.T. (AKA Storm)now in his mid 30's has finally grown up and realized he's ready to settle down and Julia is the only woman for him. Unfortunately for Storm and his enormous ego, Julia hasn't sat around pining away for him and is engaged to another man but he doesn't let that stop him from being a big overbearing boob and wooing her back into his bed.

This book thoroughly and completely annoyed me. The dialogue was unbelievable and the story filled with cliches. The other man, the stable doctor, is of course portrayed as a complete bore and the hero is just so over-the-top ridiculous that I wasn't buying it.

There were many great little romances written in the 90's that deserve reprinting but this wasn't one of them.
