Book Description

HERO AND PROTECTOR
Former bounty hunter, expert gunslinger, and the toughest sheriff Dodge City has ever known, Truman Wade is a real man from the tip of his black Stetson right down to his spurs and leather boots. He's never met his match in a gunfight, but he's never met a gorgeous, gutsy woman from the twenty-first century either...

TORN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
Newly single after a rocky breakup with her self-absorbed fiancé, newspaper columnist Jessica Delaney crashes her car in a lightning storm and soon finds herself dodging bullets in the Wild West. Before the night is out, she's tossed in jail for a murder she didn't commit, and if things don't seem complicated enough, the impossibly handsome sheriff in charge of her arrest has danger written all over him - and a sexy swagger to die for. Jessica knows she needs to get home, but when Sheriff Wade's enticing touch sets her passions on fire, she begins to wonder if fate has other plans for her, and soon she must choose between the life she longs for in the future... and the greatest love she's ever known.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy Read June 28, 2011
By Shawna
Format:Kindle Edition
This makes for great summer reading! I love Truman, the cowboy hero of the story. The way he moves and walks and talks. He is super sexy. The chemistry between the couple is thick as June bugs in summer. ;) Her crazy experiences and modern vision make for clever writing. Her 2011 voice and thoughts are a fun contrast to the Wild West.

This is a super fun, super hot book! I highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Plot, Bad Characters November 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Jessica never knew what hit her when she was suddenly tossed back to 1881 Dodge City Kansas. Suddenly, she is being tossed in jail for a crime she didn't commit and there is something about that sexy Sheriff, Truman, that makes her not mind the bars quite so much.

I really liked the plot of this book, not saying that it isn't clichéd at times and often predictable, but I liked how it moved so quickly and not a moment of the plot was boring. If this was a movie it would be moving so fast you would miss something if you took a potty break. Now as much as I liked that, this writing style really made the characters suffer. Neither Jessica or Truman are very deep and other than their physical attraction I don't honestly know why they love each other. Don't get me wrong, they are both very likable characters but there is just no depth to them. Even when Truman is trying to tow that standard romance line of not wanting love, only wanting sex, it only lasts for about 4 sentences. Towards the end when they are inevitably separated, a scene that should have been moving, dramatic and heart wrenching, but instead the author leaves the the scene out all together. Even at the very end when the inevitable bun shows up in the over, Truman doesn't even seem to care, he just acknowledges that he is going to be a father one of these days and that's that.

If you are looking for a lighter book this is for you, but as much as I liked Truman and Jessica I want more than congeniality in my characters. But because of the enjoyable plot, likable, if thin, characters and the humor I give this:

3 stars.
