The best new jazz album I've heard in many years!,
By Andy Agree "jackrabbit79" (Omaha, NE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Takes on Pasolini (Audio CD)
If you have ears and brain and heart, this beautiful music will delight and transport you. Piano, bass and drums, complex yet accessible, it tastes like a $100 feast that is worth every penny. There is not a single boring note - every track is perfectly fascinating. I know nothing of the three musicians (except that Miroslav Vitous once played in Weather Report), or of the Pasolini who inspired this album, so I write this strictly in appreciation of the music and in the hope that these words will inspire others to buy it and raise its Amazon sales from its current beyond-Pluto rank of #417,688. Like so many of the best discoveries, this one was completely accidental. Now you can get lucky too!

I have to concur with the other reviewers. This is indeed extraordinary music. The interplay and communication between the musicians truly stands out. I am a long-time fan of Miroslav Vitous, but his recorded output is varied and not always to my liking. But he shines like a polished gem in this kind of standard trio setting. It is unfortunate that this kind of brilliant music will not reach a broader audience. If you love great musicianship, grad this, or download it before it disappears. I would also recommend the excellent Larry Coryell/Miroslav Vitous Quartet recording, similarly brilliant and similarly under-appreciated, and Vitous' collaboration with guitarist Philippe Petit, Impressions of Paris

ASTONISHING DEPTH OF BEAUTY AND INTERPLAY,
By
This review is from: Takes on Pasolini (Audio CD)
A real gem of beauty with an astonishing deep and strong interplay among three colosouses of modern jazz. ANTONIO FARAO on piano MIROSLAV VITOUS on double bass and DANIEL HUMAIR on drums. They just speak with their organs instead of their tongues, transmitting beauty and warmth in a very large scale .All the artists here are well known and they have released great and respectable alboums in their carrier so far, but in this collaboration they have done THE ALBUM OF THE CENTURY and have given the best of their best .I really do not know if PASOLINI was their basic motive for this stunning interplay , and also i do not know either if we can tell that TAKES ON PASOLINI is ANTONIO FARAOs personal achievement, because the credit goes equally to these three stellar players .AMAZING RECORDING AND VERY VERY RARE .GRAB THIS RARE MASTERPIECE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
