Business as usual,

This review is from: Taking Care of Business (Audio CD)
This was Nelson's second album (March 1960), and it's just as good as his first one (MEET OLIVER NELSON), also on Prestige. Vibraphonist Lem Winchester joins Nelson on the front line, while Johnny Hammond Smith is on organ. The whole album has a downhome feel to it; there are two blues (TRANE WHISTLE and LOU'S GOOD DUES) that are dripping with soul. GROOVE is the one tune whose tempo is quicker than medium, and Nelson's solo on this is burning. George Tucker (b) and Roy Haynes (d) are solid in the rhythm section. An excellent outing.
