PreSchool-Grade 3 A matter-of-fact, easily-understood text follows gray-striped Willa to the doctor's office for a routine checkup. First she is gently lifted and placed in a sturdy carrier for the ride, then placed on the examining table and soothed as the female veterinarian goes over her eyes, feet, ears, heart, mouth, etc. Dr. Rubin explains each part of the examination to Ben, the preschooler who has brought Willa. After her vaccinations are over, the doctor weighs the cat and discusses proper diet and hairball problems. A list of correct procedures for a successful visit to the vet is included at the end. Every step of the experience is illustrated with good color photographs. This is an excellent and reassuring introduction for young children to the mysterious and possibly frightening procedures at the animal hospital, as well as a good guide to basic cat health.
