Overview of Taking Charge

For nine years Robyn's been running from her past.

With her father in the hospital, his roadhouse in ruins, and the hockey team he manages slipping down the leagues, Robyn finds herself going home to take charge.

Cole Ryan is a hockey player on a personal mission who can't help but notice this quirky, opinionated girl that suddenly stumbles into his life.

Now Robyn must ask herself if she has time to contemplate a relationship or if she even wants one.

Above it all, she must find out if going back is her only way forward.

"A down to earth day to day storyline with dreamy romance and testosterone dripping from every page!”
-Rea Sinfield, Rea’s Book Review

4.0 out of 5 stars Really liked it! February 10, 2013

This is my first Mandy Baggot book but it sure won't be my last!

The book begins with Robyn running in the airport to catch a plane that will take her back home, after 9 years of living in England. Her father is ill so she needs to go back not only for him but to take care of the family business; a roadhouse that is about to go bankrupt. At the airport she meets Cole, the tall, dark and handsome guy who is looking for a fresh start at her home town, after his brother betrayed him back in Chicago.

The chemistry between Cole and Robyn is off the charts and you can feel it from the second they meet. I love that Robyn is very straight forward and is not afraid to say what she thinks, a quality that attracts Cole immensely. They fall in love quickly but if felt natural that they did.

Robyn has a dark past and Cole knows there's more to her than meets the eye. She seems to be tough but on the inside she is just looking for love and safety. Cole is the perfect guy for that so I was rooting for them all along.

This was a great book that surprisingly was very deep. It stirred my emotions more than I thought it would; it made me laugh, cry and sigh.

I recommend this book to everyone looking for a great example of what a contemporary romance should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review: Taking Charge by Mandy Baggot May 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Do you believe in love at first sight? What about happy endings?

Robyn Matthers does not. There is no such thing as a normal relationship. Robyn is coming home from living in England for 9 years to take care of her father, who had a heart attack. She left after a horrible incident and had not been back since.

Cole Ryan will never care for anyone again. Caring means they will leave. Not gonna do that again!

The connecting flight in O'hare Robyn literally runs into Cole. He helps her to their mutual plane as they have discovered to got to Portage. Robyn talks her head off. Nervous as can be she has to face her father and her past and Take Charge and fix the Roadhouse and Hockey Team her dad owns that have gone down hill.

I absolutely loved this book. Robyn is a great character. She has a past that she'd like to forget but coming home has made that impossible. She has spunk and a love for hockey and her dad's Roadhouse.

Cole also has a past. He is sweet and HOT and who wouldn't want him!?

Can they both pull together put their pasts behind them and find the love that is truly there?

I gave this book five baskets. Had I not had a minor emergency with my oldest son I would have finished this book yesterday morning!

If my review isn't enough to get you to buy this book one word TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Could not stop laughing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking Charge by Mandy Baggot May 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Robyn Matthers is returning home to the States, after living in England for the past nine years. Robyn is returning home to be near her father who is seriously ill in hospital. Robyn wants to take charge of her father's rundown roadhouse and the local ice hockey team, that her father manages, The Portage Panthers.

At the airport in America Robyn meets the gorgeous Cole Ryan and the confident and sassy Robyn kisses him as they part and invites him to her father's roadhouse that she plans to clean up and redecorate and re launch. Cole is also a talented ice hockey player that Robyn's team desperately need as they are currently having a bad losing streak.

But behind Robyn's confidence she has yet to come to terms with a tragic event in her past. When returning home stirs up past events and Robyn as got to face some painful memories could Cole be the one to help her take charge of her life?

This is the latest novel from Mandy Baggot and it is another smash hit of a read. The plots to Mandy Baggot's books are so clearly written that the plot plays out in your minds eye projecting like a film. I liked that the main character for a girl was quite strong and knows her own mind and goes for exactly what she wants even though underneath she is quite venerable especially when it comes to her past. Cole makes a great hero and heartthrob in the story. Not read any of Mandy Baggot's books yet? Well what are you waiting for, go on give yourself a good read this book is an excellent read.

This story was hilarious. I love the main character's humor. The twist was pretty evident as soon as Jason claimed to be reopening the trial, bit I've got no problem with that. Read more
