I enjoyed this book. It provides an outstanding foundation for a leader's journey. It is well documented, has relative case studies that directly correlate to the learned material, and showcases outstanding leadership examples. This book would be a great first-read for an undergraduate program on leadership...it would invigorate the reader to dive into their leadership development!

This was a good purchase. The first few chapter dealt with understanding the types of leadership styles which served as a refresher course for me. Then the book continued to discuss great approaches to improve leadership and tske command of your leadership style. To quote, Situational Leadership is not just about one approach, it is about different approaches to meet the immediate need a leader can be confronted with. The 5 Cs and 5 Ps of commanding leadership were infoprmative and helped me see where I needed to improve. The importance of mentoring was another good chapter that reminded me some one always has to be ready to fill in your shoes should you be promoted. The team building chapter was extremely important and the final discussion held on being an ethical leader hit a special part in my own leadership style. In short I would recomend this book to any new Leader and persons in current leadership positions.

This book was recommended to me by my mentor and has proven to be very informative and educational. I have noticed many qualities that I already possess and many more that I need to develop. I am very pleased with this book and would recommend it to the next leader in our group.

Taking Command is one of the most poignant books on leadership I have read in a long time. The book is a must read for anyone wanting to understand the process of developing and becoming a leader. The book weaves in amazing examples of leaders from history to bring home descriptions and examples for the various types of leadership and what differentiates them from each other. This book is well written, well resourced and provides the reader with a logical sequential process that cognitively engages them in what it takes to become a leader. Nicholas Downing brings a fresh perspective to the subject of leadership. His writing will take us into the new normal's of today. This book truly represents the motto of Command Group International...it will provide the reader the tools to learn how to lead and resources to succeed.
