Book Description

April 8, 1997
This text is aimed at students who may not like statistics but who need to understand the subject in order to complete their course or gain employment. It is a comprehensive but digestible introduction to statistics, guiding the reader through the number crunching of data analysis without memorising formulae. It is designed to help students understand the theory of data analysis. The text is divided into three parts - understanding data, preparing data for analysis and carrying out analysis - which link the stages of the data analysis process. Examples are used throughout and hints and warnings emphasise key points. This text is suitable for all students studying quantitative methods.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful About The Title, September 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Taking the Fear Out of Data Analysis (Paperback)
My opinion about this book is determined by what I had expected to get versus what I got. What I expected: I am looking for a text to help me through the decision process about which statistical techniques should be applied to data. For example, given the results from a survey, I need to know -- and see -- just how the data is managed and analyzed step-by-step in order to extract insights. Thus my favorable reaction to the book's title, "Taking The Fear Out Of Data Analysis." What I got: If fact, this book is really nothing more than another introductory or beginning statistics text, information about which can be found in so many other sources. To be honest, I have only skimmed what the book does cover and it seems to be competent. So: If you're looking for an introductory statistics book, this one should be considered. However, if you're a researcher confronted with a pile of market research data, with no particular guide as to how it should be attached practically, then continue your search; this is not the book for you.

You can now understand how to perform all these difficult statistical tests, which in the past did not allow you to slip at nights!!!! A book that is essential reading for any young student or researcher who wants to get started.
