This is an outstanding book and a must for any military library, Christian collection, and anyone interested in leadership challenges. I was delayed in reading the book because I left it out and my wife started reading it and would not put it down! Hours and one box of kleenex later, I was able to start reading. Each story makes you hungry for the next. Some of these stories are known in many Christian circles like the trials and triumphs of Clebe McClary. Here, Colonel O'Leary seems to tie his story to others to show God's power in to toughest of times. Others stories are everyday people who have extraordinary testimonies. Get this book, get a box of kleenex for tears of compasion and joy, and enjoy!

This book was well-written and kept one's attention throughout. In addition to telling stories of heroism and suffering of our military, it shows how God is the one who is victorious in all the situations. Fantastic, Must-Read book for military or non-military readers.

This book was so inspirational. The timing couldn't have been better after the disasters of Sept 11. The book really encouraged me as I read story after story of courageous men and women who had suffered but survived their ordeals. It will appeal to women as well as men. I highly recommend it for an uplift in your day

Upon finishing the book,I felt like I was standing on holy ground, not just high ground. The book abounds in sensitive and moving stories of love and courage from people with integrity, patriotism, and faith that has gone through the fire--ordinary people reflecting upon the gracious Creator, the one and only God.

There is just so much you could say about this book. For one Colonel Jeffrey O'Leary is an outstanding author. Even though he himself didn't write much of this book it took a great deal of research to come up with what he has written here. Before each chapter he has a list of quotes. Those quote are from all different kinds of people. It just goes to show that many different people have their faith in the one and only true God. The stories that are in here are all different. Some will make you want to cry other will make you laugh. Once I started I just couldn't stop reading. I hated it when I had to put it down and do something else. In my opinion it is such a good book that I am buying as many as I can and giving them out as Christmas gifts to the family and friends. Even to a non believer this would be a good book. It show that through the toughest times people held onto what they believed in and God pulled them through when there was no way that they could have made it without him there by their sides. I can't say much more without ruining the book for you. I would like to tell you about some of the stories but they are too good to tell them now. I will have to let you decide for yourself how good the book really is. I hope you enjoy it and that this review was helpfull to you.

I have read the manuscript of this book. This book blessed me in several ways. One, it has many experiences of God' working in the lives of many people, especially military personnel. I am always bless with how God works in peoples lives. Two, it gives a person a better perpective of our armed forces in a way that the general public is not aware, and should be more up to date about the inner workings of our service men and women. Three, it brings out some of the problems that the families of service people deal with on a daily basis that is unique to the military. Four , it brings out the dedication of the men and women that serve this country, who are willing to lay their very lives on the line to protect our freedom.

This book is not just a book to lift the spirits of people in the military, but is a book that every person should read. It is not a book to be read once and then put down to gather dust, but to be read over and over for the spiritual benefit of all who read it and enjoy God's blessings.

This book should be in every ones home, in every public library, and in every church library.

Col O'Leary has written an epic book of military life seen in all it's hardship and promise. It is a book of hope and possibility, of love in the middle of war. It is a book written for such a time as this---when our nation needs to recover from the wounds of terrorism and the fear that it can bring. It's hard to imagine anyone who wouldn't appreciate hearing that even in our worst circumstances, God is still working--and here are incredible examples of how He did.

Col Jeff takes the reader on an incredible roller coaster of emotions that depict military life through the eyes of faith. He conveys the tough reality of life, where God doesn't always deliver people from the circumstances. Instead, he shows how these men and women, through their faith in Christ were kept even through their circumstances (POW's, Traumatically wounded GI's etc). This is a must read for those looking for encouragement and hope when our nation is sorely in need of it.

Jeff O'Leary has brought together a group of stories that has something for everyone...military or civilian. I was touched by what the ladies had to say.

I read the manuscript just before it went to print and am very excited to see this book come on the market. It will take you on a roller coaster of emotions from George Washington to the Gulf War. "Inspired" is the best word I can think of as I read the accounts of men and women who have served with faith and courage, often at great cost to themselves and families. This is a book for every American who would like to reacquaint themselves with the greatness of their country through those that have served her--in peace and war.
