4.0 out of 5 stars Let yourself be flooded....
The story is often disjointed - like the deer - but just go with the prose - beautiful, lyric, mesmerizing. It is rare a book really tries to analyze the meaning of love - the genesis of love. Wonderful comments on silence and on religion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not keep my attention
I did not find that this book kept my attention. Portions of the book was interesting as was the underlying plot. It just seemed to loose it way sometimes.

I picked this book up because of a curiosity about the history of the Quabbin Reservoir in Massachusetts and fell in love with the author's writing style and the tension between the characters. Loved it!
