Definitely the best!!!,

This review is from: Taking Off (Audio CD)
I became a Sanborn fan in the early seventies, especially his work with the great Paul Butterfield Blues Band. (Woodstock)and David Bowie Live. Taking Off was his first solo album. This cd is very funky with songs like Butterfat and Funky banana. In my opinon he never reached that level again. I have many other albums but Taking Off is the only one I still play. The other albums are so mellow and they don't "swing".

This has got to be one of the best albums in my collection. I bought it back in 1976 and have never tired of listening to it. David Sanborn has got to be one of the best sax players out there today.

Taking Off describes it perfectly,

This CD is one of Sanborns first CD's on his own. Songs 7,8,9 refer to as the sweep, this piece is a very early indication of the talent that David Sanborn would prove to have and become the master of his domain.
