This book was required reading for a Psychology of Gender class I took. It was a book that took various gender themes or issues and offered two sides to each issue. A few example topics are: gender in the work world, violence in daily life, gender in childhood, and gender in sexuality. The editor found people who would pose their arguments either in favor or against the various topics or sub topics. A few examples of sub topics are: (under violence in daily life) there was the sub topic does pornography reduce the incidence of rape? or (under gender in the work world) there was the sub topic is the gender wage gap justified? I thought overall the book was pretty interesting and it read more easily than many textbooks. One of the things about this book that I liked was after every argument there was a list of other books, or sources to look at if you were interested in that argument. That was helpful and would be useful for further research. I found a few of the arguments seemed forced or based more on politics than research. But overall I would recommend this book. I think someone interested in gender studies would think it was worthwhile (even if they are not a student). I am going to keep this book to enrich my teaching library.

Very interesting text on opposing views of current hot-button issues. It was a great supplement to our main textbook in our gender comm. class. I enjoyed it!

Had to have this book for my school course. The language was technical, but had a lot of great debatable topics inside.

This is required reading for a gender roles class I am taking. To sum it up, a question is put forth, then one article is agree with it and the next is not. The articles usually aren't relevant to each other, so that's not helpful, and some of the articles are based on absolutely nothing. Maybe it's the researcher in me, but I like to read about facts, not skewed points of view.
