Probably not much reason for reviewing a 16 year old disc. I only bought it recently and that's because I started playing the hell out of an earlier release of theirs- - -Morning Wood. The lyrics on both are clever and sometimes biting. They also tell the story of any young man's blues and mini-triumphs.
On this disc is War. A great song which I had purchsed a cassette single of from a used music store. It's one of the few of those I still have. It's actually up on a wall in my music room that displays many of the various configuations for recorded music. Back to the music on this lp. At times you think they're going to break into punk but they pull back to Mellencamp or Waits. Jewel even contributes a cowrite and vocals to one song (Old Lover's House)and in '94/95 Jewel was an important artist.

Steve Poltz of the Rugburns is probably one of the most talented songwriters out there in world of music. All the songs on this record range from witty to downright funny to eerily beautiful. END
