Editorial Reviews

Review

"Campaign maps and 34 photographs compliment Neville's narration.  Action paintings and "bird's eye" views metaphorically drop readers amidst Takur Ghar fighting.  And a bibliography and index conclude this informative effort. Highly recommended!"
- David L. Veres, www.cybermodeler.com (June 2013)

THis book was amazingly detailed for accurate information concerning US forces! If someone ever wants to learn about the "fog of war" this book delivers it superbly. I have read a number of the Raid Series and this is probably the "fastest" (can't put down") for me. A superb read!

Very very good read. Gives great insight to the battle itself and the reasons for the mistakes that were made. Tells you exactly what happens when the services fight for control instead of working together as they should. So many heroes in this book. Nasty fight that we almost didn't win. A testament to the training and fighting spirit of the Rangers. SEALS, and the Night stalkers.

I ended up buying this book because I read about Operation Anaconda in Pete Blabber's "The mission, The men and I".
If all of you thought this book was interesting I recommend Pete Blabber's book as well. Pete was a commander in the "unit" or delta force and lead this operation. He gives his account of this one and a few others and how they planned everything out, and how to deal with complications like what happened on that particular peak.

I'm glad that Ospsrey can write short but illuminating books on new subjects when it takes years to get a book out. I push teh Ospreys because they are inexpensive but informative and have hundreds of subjests that are a quick read without spending big bucks on some hugge book. This book is very informative on a newer subject. It is a place to start in the study of history on any subject.

Great Read. I have read Roberts Ridge which was from a SEAL perspective and Takur Ghar is from a Ranger perspective. In general both accounts were similar however the "perspective" was a bit different. Takur Ghar has quite a bit more background on their part in the battle but I couldn't pick which book is "better". I think each compliments the other and shows how each branch does things a little different.

I would read them both, again.

Nuts and bolts fact based read on this battle. Doesn't show favoritism towards one branch, and gives great detail of the struggles our American heroes on the ground faced, from the enemy to the remfs.

This book was a nice change from the "full size" books I have been reading. It`s well illustrated and was a nice surprise to read. Very complete book in a smaller than normal format. I will be reading more of these in the future.
