Inspiring,
By Mollie Cox Bryan "Scrapbook of Secrets" (Waynesboro, Va.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Tale of 12 Kitchens: Family Cooking in Four Countries (Paperback)
When I purchased this book (online) I thought it would be a kind of Peter Mayle food-essay book. Warning: This book is Peter Mayle on steroids. And it is fabulous. What intriguing recipes! But this book is so much more than recipes. The writing is evocative and the stories transcend cultures. The art, of course, adds an interesting element. But my favorite images are the photos of real family kitchens, cluttered with real life and objects used to nourish a family.

An Engaging Look at Food and Connection with Life,
By
This review is from: A Tale of 12 Kitchens: Family Cooking in Four Countries (Paperback)
Artist Jake Tilson tells a biographical tale of his life as seen in the 12 kitchens he has cooked in and eaten from. I had not heard of Tilson before on any level and found that he writes engagingly of food and its connection with his life ... which can by extension be related to ours as well if we stop and think about the kitchens of our own lives. Includes recipes which look very practical and Tilson did the book art which I found just as engaging as his writing. The recipes I have tried have been delicious.
