Dusty had an incredibly strong desire to become a great baseball player, even though he was undersized, and faced many challenges and disappointments. 5.0 out of 5 stars Tale of A Baseball Dream July 11, 2011
As a teacher, I know how hard it is to find engaging books for middle school aged male students. This book fits the bill! Every young boy shares Dusty's dream of becoming a great baseball player. The story shares a great message suitable for readers of all ages.

I hope the author will continue to write books that will target this age group. We need more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much More than A Baseball Tale May 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Our children need good stories to listen to and read alone. "Tale of A Baseball Dream" is one of those stories that our kids should listen to and read.
"Tale of A Baseball Dream" is a well written story by Jerry Pearlman. It is not just about a dream of baseball success; this book offers much more between covers. This great book illustrates how awesome life can be when we accomplish our dreams with the support of those who believe in us!
This book will help young kids - especially boys - become readers and maybe look for more books like this. Read only few pages to your child and your daughter or son will ask for more.
For children who need inspiration to believe in dreams, to follow the big one, this book proves that practice makes perfect.

If your child likes a good story, then this story for your son or daughter. As teacher and mom, I truly believe that this book should be in your child's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tale of a Baseball Dream June 9, 2012
Tale of a Baseball Dream by Jerry Pearlman is an inspiring book that reminds us to believe in ourselves and always chase our dreams.

Dusty loves baseball and spends endless hours practicing with his dad. Dusty is very talented and his dad consistently praises his strengths and encourages him to work on areas of weakness. With the help of his dad, Dusty becomes an incredible ball player until tragedy strikes.

Dusty's story is interwoven with the life of Bubba "The Brute" Brugosee, who was considered to be the greatest ball player of his time who faced adversity yet persisted.

Tale of a Baseball Dream is a well written story that shows just how magical your life can be when you never give up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Story to ever share August 22, 2013
While Tale of a Baseball Dream takes the reader to the peak of excitement in Americas favorite past time, it is the story in the story that hits a home run.
Steeped in tradition comes a message of hope and a fathers great love for his son that together leave a legacy. Dusty's pure talent and drive along with his Dad's vision conveys wisdom to live by and provides a great teaching tool that every athlete can relate to. A must share with all the young people in your life. The details are so well written and help guide the reader visually through the story. Young and old will enjoy this wonderfully written book. I highly recommend you not only read it, but share it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Batter Up! July 22, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I wish this book had been available when my son was growing up! He loved playing baseball, but he did not like to read! This book would have changed his mind about reading! I loved the relationship between father and son, the idea of working hard to achieve one's dreams, and the theme of perseverance! I highly recommend "Tale of a Baseball Dream." It'll make you want to grab your mitt, take your son outside, and tell him to batter up!
