This is a game to avoid at all costs. My nephew really enjoyed the movie and so I checked this one out to see if would be worth getting him a copy. It isn't. Thankfully I was able to give it a test run at a large box store before ordering it. Let me premise everything else in this review by saying that I have played video games (PC and console both) for 20 years. I evaluated this game using these criteria: Is this game suitable for a six year old boy? 2. Is it a fun game? 3. Is it worth the cost? The answers are no, no, and no.

Frankly, this is about the worst game I've ever seen and might be eligible for worst film tie in game ever made. The controls are horrendous, the environments boring, and the story butchered. If you loved the movie, you really don't want to get this game as it might just suck any joy you carried away from the film right out of your heart. The plot has been stripped down to something that doesn't even resemble the film, much less the book.

It's not just that this is a bad game, it's that it is a frustrating game, and would be especially so for a child. The environments are so poorly rendered that sometimes it is impossible to even tell where you are supposed to go. Other problems include very repetitive game play and annoying sound effects. I can't imagine anyone enjoying this game, and especially not a fan of the movie or book.

I'm not trashing this game because I'm an adult and the game is intended for children. I'm trashing it because it is a violation of everything that a good video game should be, and I want to spare any children the misery of ever having to play it. Don't waste your money.

I purchased this game for my granddaughter for xmas. She is 11. My son (her dad) couldn't make it work and he is a programmer! He tried to contact the manufacturer, Brash Entertainment, but was unsuccessful. So I retrieved it from my son and am in the process of returning it to Amazon.com.
