A Sweet Classic Treasure,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Tale For Easter (Hardcover)
Tasha Tudor is classic. I am so thrilled to have purchased this book for my "bookworm" daughter - I purchased this charming book through Tasha's own web page and had it signed by Tasha...however it cost me LOTS more than what the price is listed here - this adorable Easter tale which is beautifully illustrated is one to add to your child's library....The Easter Bunny will be leaving it on Easter for my little girl...and surely it will be a special added treasure to her collection.

Beautiful Easter Basket Addition,
By BostonMama (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Tale for Easter (Tasha Tudor Collection) (Paperback)
This book is just so beautiful and charming, that I had to have it for my daughter's first Easter basket. It makes the perfect "special occasion" Easter book, and is a great gift, especially with a message inscribed inside. It includes Tudor's charming drawings of a time gone by, and sweet text in the voice of a little girl, who tells the reader how she knows it is time for Easter. This book also transforms a plain Easter basket from the Easter bunny into such a pretty, special treat for a little girl on Easter morning!

When I buy a children's book, usually the illustrations draw me in moreso than the story, although of course, that is important also. One can hardly find illustrations more charming and wonderful than Tasha Tudors. She can also provide a wonderful childs story along with the beautiful drawings. A Tale for Easter is simple but cute. I recommend it to add to your Tasha Tudor collection.

I ordered this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter for Easter. The illustrations are perfection, and the story is sweet and simple. The only complaint I have is that it is paperback - would love it if they'd offer a hardcover version.

An old fashioned story with old fashioned charm. Makes you long for an era that is lost to children of this day and age. Simple and sweet.

My daughters received this book for Easter and it is definitely MY favorite Easter book - it just took my breath away. Incredibly sweet and old-fashioned; no chocolate or hype. Just the essentials of this lovely Springtime holiday - new dresses, adorable baby animals, gentle little children and some colored eggs. I am enchanted and thrilled to have found Tasha Tudor. You will love her!

I was looking for a secular Easter book for my two year old's Easter basket this year. It was hard to tell from the description and other reviews if this one would fit the bill, however I have fond memories of my Tasha Tudor book, A Time to Keep, from my childhood, so I thought this one was worth a chance. It was a pleasant surprise.
Aside from the mention of Sunday School, and Good Friday, there are no other religious references. Of course in that same vein, there is also a reference to having hot cross buns with tea on Good Friday, a tradition that would likely be lost on most children anyway. The majority of this brief little book - it's just over a dozen pages long - focuses on the awakening of spring as is conjured in a young child's dream, and on waking up Easter morning to a myriad of pleasant little surprises; a stuffed bunny in grandmother's rocker, Easter eggs, and new baby ducklings. This is a sweet, simple, classic tale with lovely, gentle illustrations in a small format (the book measures about 6.75" x 6.75"), just right for tucking into a basket. I think it's lovely and I'm sure it will be a treasured Easter surprise for my young daughter. |
