5.0 out of 5 stars So what's a kvetch already? October 24, 2003
Format:Paperback
A kvetch is a complainer. And that's what Meshka the Kvetch does. She complains about her home. She complains about her children. She complains about herself. And then one day, she comes down with a strange ailment, the Kvetch's Itch. And from then on, Meshka sees what happens when her complaints come true. Her son, "who sits around all day like a bump on a pickle," turns into a pickle. Her feet, "swollen to the size of melons," turn into melons. The only solution, suggested by the wise Rabbi, is to stop complaining and start looking at the good things in her life. This charming book teaches children to look at the bright side, and to find the good in every situation. The delightful illustrations and repetition of language make it a great beginning reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Kvetch from me September 10, 2011

I have read this book to my kids. Now it is time to regale the grandkids with this cautionary tale. I particularly like using my Yiddish accent. I even crack me up. The illustrations are good and it's not too long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful! April 25, 2013
Format:Hardcover
I found this book at a library book sale, and had to have it. The story is humorous and the illustrations are quite good, but the message is the best part of all. Although I plan to read it to my granddaughter, I'd really prefer to read it to a few adults that I know.
