Book Description

For years, Miss Felicia Murdock's every thought and action have been in pursuit of becoming a minister's wife. When the minister she'd set her sights on has other ideas, she decides something in her life needs to change--and soon--before she wastes any more time pretending to be someone she's not. If that means spreading her wings and embracing a more lively way of life, who's to say nay?

Grayson Sumner, Lord Sefton, has had more than enough of spreading his wings and only hopes to settle into the life of a respectable New York gentleman. Prompted by some friends to lift the spirits of the disappointed-in-love Miss Murdock, he is surprised to encounter an adventurous young lady with an unfortunate knack for stumbling into troublesome situations.

Just as Grayson decides he's had quite enough of her antics, his past comes back to haunt him and his presence in Felicia's life endangers her. As they work together to extricate themselves from this latest complication, will Grayson and Felicia decide they want to spend the rest of their lives keeping one another out of trouble?

3.0 out of 5 stars Another book in the series... October 8, 2013
Format:Paperback
When Jen Turano began her series of books that began with A Change of Fortune, I wondered how the series would go. The first one was a funny melodrama and I had high hopes that this would be a fun, lighthearted series to read. The first book turned out, in my opinion to be the best one of the series. The others seemed to all follow the same kind of formula revolving around the same families (which I did like), which seemed to be entirely (entirely!) predictable. I missed the humor from the first novel in the other books. Several other reviewers noted that they really found this book funny. I think the humor is very cheesy in the other books and doesn't flow as naturally for me as it did in the first.

I just finished reading the most recent edition to this series, A Talent for Trouble. This story centers on Miss Felicia Murdock. This young woman is crushed when the minister she had been pining for marries another woman. She's actually quite a spunky lady who has suppressed her own outgoing personality for four years in hopes of being the demure woman the minister might choose to court. Alas, she was not and the beginning of the novel finds her quite crushed in spirit. From there, she sets out to remake herself into who she really is--a talkative, bubbly, energetic twenty-something young woman. Her wardrobe and behavior lose the demureness that had shrouded them for the past four years. Along the way, Grayson Sumner comes into the picture. He consistently ends up in her path day after day. Several times he rescues her from her own naive behavior. And so the story goes on...

This is a historical Christian romance novel like all the Lori Wick novels and others that are out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hysterically amazing book! October 9, 2013
By Abbi
Format:Kindle Edition
I was so excited to read this book and once I started I barely took anytime away from it! Jen Turano never fails to deliver a book that is well-written and extremely funny so it was no surprise that this book was both! I love how all of the characters of the books are all friends with each other so we are constantly getting to see the before and afters of the characters relationships! Felicia and Grayson were both characters that you hadn't gotten to know too well but you could tell they were going to be awesome-and they were!
I loved watching Felicia find her true self after years of trying to make her self into the perfect wife for the pastor she'd set her sights on! I wasn't quite sure what to make of the Felicia we'd met in the previous two books but she was awesome in this one! Her actions had me laughing so much especially when she did things that she claimed her mother said she was good at! And Grayson's reactions were priceless! It amused me greatly when he always told her exactly what he thought about things even when it could be considered rude and she actually liked it! Speaking of Grayson, he was great! I loved how he was constantly doing things that Eliza wanted him to do that threw him into Felicia's path. And once again all off the minor characters were great fun especially the characters from the first two books, Zayne, Agatha! I can not wait for their book! So in summary it was an amazing hysterical book that I absolutely loved-but then I expected no less from this author!

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

2.5 stars

I didn't enjoy A Talent for Trouble as much as I thought I would, and I think one of the reasons for that is because I read this one right after finishing books one and two - there were just too many similarities in the stories and that just annoyed/frustrated me. I think if I would have only read this book (or read it months after the others), I would have enjoyed it more. Also, there were some things in A Talent for Trouble that just didn't seem believable to me.

I was surprised by how much I liked the main hero. I think he might be my favorite from the books so far. I didn't love Felicia's character, but she wasn't horrible either. I am still really looking forward to Agatha's book - her story sounds so good!

The plot to this story might be my favorite, but overall I just didn't enjoy it all that much. There were parts I really liked, but also things I didn't and it was just an okay read for me. I see many people on Goodreads have loved A Talent for Trouble, so I could be the only one that didn't connect to it and you might like it.
