About the Author

Julia Donaldson teaches English and lives in Glasgow. Over the last two decades she has had many books published and her work has been performed on programmes such as Playschool. She has also written for BBC radio, the stage and record, and runs drama and music workshops for children. Author of the Smarties gold award-winning The Gruffalo (0 333 71093 2), published in 1999. Axel Scheffler has had books published in over a dozen countries and is famous for his depiction of animals. His books for Macmillan have included the Smarties gold award-winning The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom (0 333 90337 4). Born in Hamburg, he now lives in London.

Julia Donaldson is the author of many successful books for children, including the classic THE GRUFFALO, which has won the Smarties Prize and the Blue Peter Award for the Best Book to Read Aloud. THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD was one of the biggest best-sellers of 2004 and won WHS Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. Julia has also written many children's plays and songs, and runs regular storytelling and drama workshops. She lives in Glasgow with her family.
