"Tales of Amanda Pig" is a collection of gentle, calm stories about how Amanda the pig solves everyday situations, such as resolving a fight with her brother. In one story she is faced with food she doesn't like, in another her father helps her overcome her fear of a "monster" in the hallway. The last story is about going to bed. The pig parents are ideal - we humans should handle our kids this well! The book is wholesome enough to read aloud to very young kids, and easy for beginning readers to read on their own.

Amanda Pig is one of the cutest children's books around--G rated, not PG, like so many children's books now. Kids love it and grownups can stay awake during the reading of it, maybe even secretly enjoy it.

This book is characterized as a Level Two reader, which is described as "reading together, short sentences, simple dialogue".
The stories are interesting with colorful and cute illustrations by Ann Schweninger. This particular book contains four easy-to-read stories featuring Amanda Pig and her big brother, Oliver and will appeal to young children who will be able to relate to the antics of these two piglets. I'd recommend this series to children who are beginning to develop some measure of independence in their reading and have completed the level one readers. It also makes an excellent read aloud for younger children.

I bought this as a Christmas gift/ donation for my daughter's class along with other Amanda books. The kids and my daughter loved them so much that I started buying the Amanda books for us at home. The school uses them in their reading counts program and the stories are really cute.
