Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Forever Slave was founded in 2000 by Sergio and Lady Angellyca. In December of 2003, they recorded their debut album, mixing medieval melodies, bloodcurdling keyboard arrangements, the sweet female voice of Lady Angellyca and powerful guitar work, proving to be the perfect formula for the band. Forever Slave has recently completed work on their latest masterpiece, Tales For Bad Girls , which deals with some very controversial subjects such as AIDS, homosexual relationships, cybersex, the mistreatment of women, the pederasty and a collection of forbidden relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Female-fronted metal at its best..., June 2, 2008
Tales for Bad Girls is much different than its predecessor, Alice's Inferno. It removes much of the synth, violin (bye bye Ignaz /sadface) and mystic lyrics heard in AI. TfBG hits the raw and basic elements of female-fronted metal. There is predominately more raw guitar with driving chords and great drum work. Angellyca's voice fits this style of FS music perfectly. Her voice was great in AI, but you can really tell what 3-4 years and a style twist has done.

The material on this album is good stuff. My favorite is "Our Story". This song shows that Lady Angellyca does have the vocal chops to pull of this style of music. Say Goodbye, D!ckhead, Kristin AIDS, Afterlife are also great songs. All in all, one of the better metal albums in my collection.

Thank you, Forever Slave...this present was long overdue!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quit Freaking Out, November 28, 2008

The album's good, don't not buy this because of the whole art work fiasco, sure some guy, down at the record label lifted this and should be held accountable, but its not the band's doing, nor is it 100% their fault. Having your art work replicated to profit someone else sucks, but you all just need to chill and listen to some good music.

This is the second album by Forever Slave, a female-fronted metal band. Their first album, "Alice's Inferno," was a very promising effort that saw Lady Angellyca's ethereal vocals floating above a more conventional metal foundation. Rather than raising the rest of the band to her level, this album sees Lady Angellyca descend into a more conventional vocal range and style.

The result, unfortunately, is best classified as pop metal. If Lady Angellyca had a powerful, belt-it-out voice like Floor Jansen (of After Forever) or Sharon van den Adel (of Within Temptation), this would work. However, Lady Agellyca's voice most resembles Liv Kristine's in the metal genre, too soft for pure metal. Forever Slave would be better off writing around her voice, with more subtle compositions and a more progressive metal feel.
