Book Description

The near-future world of Artemis Bridge has been critically-acclaimed in such novels as Under the Amoral Bridge, The Know Circuit and if [tribe] =. He dissects the inner workings of credit assassinations, illustrates what happens to GlobalNet ID’s of the deceased, and details the initiation process of the mysterious technomancers in ten exciting short stories, some never before published in any form. Fans of stylish science-fiction as well as those familiar with the previous Bridge Chronicles novels will enjoy this collection, available exclusively as an eBook.

“Ballard paints imaginative scenarios and environments”

“Ballard does a complete and thorough job of world building.”

Classic Ballard. A lot of these stories were in the books for kindle, but I don't mind. Artemis Bridge is a great character, so open to continually changing arcs.... Definitely a good series and a great read!!

Mr. Ballard again does not disappoint. It was recommended to read as I wait for Mr. Ballard's next volume in the Bridge Chronicles. I was not disappointed. Lots of good short stories that follow the main Bridge characters. An excellent read. Buy it. By the rest of the series. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah! Real Cyberpunk! January 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ah, sweet. Bad guys and badder guys. Reminiscent of Gibson's sprawl but faster paced. I've read 2 of the novels and they were good but I enjoyed these snippets as much or more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really helps to tie the world together March 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've enjoyed all of Ballard's Bridge Chronicles books, and this collection of short stories that, by and large, don't have that much to do with Bridge himself, really helped to explore the wider world in which he resides. I especially enjoyed knowing more about Mu's origin, and discovering more about the training of new Technomancers, though all of the stories were fun and interesting in their own right.

You won't regret the money you spend on this if you've enjoyed the other Bridge Chronicles books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Collection of Cyberpunk in an established 'Verse. February 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second book that i have read by Gary Ballard and enjoyed it. Ballard continues to explore the universe that he created in his first book Under the Amoral Bridge: A Cyberpunk Novel (The Bridge Chronicles). Ballard really seems to have a passion for this dark and cybered future and I really enjoy his work. Very reminiscent of Gibson's work, but the reader (or at least me) feels like they are more a part of this world rather then the observer as in Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy.

This collection of 10 stories/novellas follows the established protagonist, Artemis Bridge as well as introducing us (i believe) to other characters from Ballard's later works. The short stories flow fast and easy but as the author explains in the introduction he doesn't seem to like the formula of the short story/novella. So though the stories move fast they don't always seem to take us anywhere or at least in my opinion.

While Ballard seems to like the cyberpunk world, i don't really feel like i am IN a cyberpunk universe. we do get to see some cyberware, and of course there is the requisite hacking scenes, which really shine but i would enjoy seeing more cyber added to this cyberpunk world.

The value on the Kindle collection is great so grab it, and enjoy. For other cyberpunk/shadowrun collections that you may enjoy check these out, Shadowrun: Spells & Chrome and another one that i just finished, Dead Dwarves, Dirty Deeds
