Let me first start this off by saying any movie with Corey Feldman in it will automatically lose one star from me. That done let me repair that by saying any film with Erika Eleniak in it will receive one bonus star.

I never understood why so many people hate this movie. Even Fangoria called it 'abysmal'. But I consider it a worthy follow-up to the delicious Demon Knight. It has brilliant acting: Dennis Miller is a treat as smartass private eye. Angie Everhart is not only the hottest female vampire in years, no, she even proves that she can actually act. Corey Feldman has one of his very few good roles. But who really chews the scenery is Chris Sarandon (Fright Night), one of the most underrated actors ever: His performance as a TV preacher alone makes this movie worth watching. Only Erika Eleniak is rather miscast. And watch out for Demon Knight veteran William Sadler (another underestimated actor) as mummy. The make-up F/X are not only unbelievably gory for an R-rated movie; they're so excellent they even surprise genre buffs who thought they've seen it all. The characters are wonderfully weird, and although there's loads of black humour in it, I'm glad Bordello of Blood never turns in a fun-splatter movie and still provides some chills. Even if you heard it's awful: Give it a try! It's more than just another vampire movie and has more imaginery than all those new teen horror films that Scream spawned together. I just hope there'll be a final part to the Tales from the Crypt full-length-feature trilogy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vampire Prostitutes, April 28, 2004

Bordello of Blood is the second Tales From the Crypt movie, and I found it very enjoyable.

Unlike the first movie (Demon Knight) this movie did not start out with the television show's opening. It opened more like a movie than an extra long episode.

Bordello of Blood is the story of a down-on-his-luck private investigator (Dennis Miller) looking for a missing teenager. The search leads him to a funeral home that is a front for a bordello run by vampires. Miller's client tells him to drop the case but he really needs the case to succeed if he is going to get his license back. Miller investigates and plays a very savvy investigator who doesn't fall for anyone's lines and is not surprised by what he finds. Added to this is television evangelism, the lore of vampires and their origin, and the key from the first movie.

The action is similar to the series with the same tongue-in-cheek humor (possibly even more so). I particularly liked the investigator's resourcefulness in eliminating the vampires (a long-range, large-capacity squirt gun filled with holy water) and the vampire applying the SPF100 sun block.

If you like Tales From the Crypt, there is no reason you will not like this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come to this bordello and get wicked !, July 23, 2000

This review is from: Tales From the Crypt: Bordello of Blood [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I hate all kinds of critics, especially movie critics(amateur and professional ones). They are really frustrated people as well as party-poopers!Don't pay attention to the bad reviews you may come across here. This movie is one of the best horror flicks I've ever seen. There's comedy/black humor, blood, guts, great special effects and great acting - all in one helluva story. The plot: After 10 long years a Tomb Raider finds Lilith-he mother of all vampires. He knows that he who resurrects Lilith can control her.Of course all he wants is money, prestige and power. The brothel is just a cover-up for underhanded schemes to get what he desires, and for Lilith to get what she needs : blood. Now, if you want further info watch this.I've never been to a brothel in my life, but I'm sure it's not as fun as this film is !

Let me first start this off by saying any movie with Corey Feldman in it will automatically lose one star from me. That done let me repair that by saying any film with Erika Eleniak in it will receive one bonus star.

Tales From the Crypt's second feature is little more than a campy vampire tale. It is the tale of the Queen of the vampires 'Lillith' (erotically portrayed by the best looking redhead in film, Angie Everhart).

Dennis Miller, is his wise cracking self throughout this movie. I wondered whether there was a script or not for him, as he just kid of flows through the film with jokes in every second line..perhaps he adlibbed the whole thing. Well, his character is a hardluck P.I. whom happens across a lovely lady in distress, the ever so religious Erika Eleniak.

Eleniak's brother (Feldman) is missing. The cops are too overworked between meals so she decides to hire Miller. He finds out that her brother went to a vampire whorehouse.

Chris Sarandon who played a T.V. Reverend in this movie plays a confusing character to me. Sometimes he seems the Swaggarty Bakerish type of corrupt evangelist, sometimes he seems like a crusader for God. Hard to tell. Regardless he didn't have a major role in the film.

There is plenty of nudity in the film, and combined with Miller's and Everhart's (who looks gorgeous did I mention that...but could not tell a joke and act well) wisecracking made it a pretty campy affair. With all the nudity, they couldn't have shown it from one of the major stars like Eleniak or Everhart?? Come on Cryptkeeper get with it!

It surprised me the way the Tales From the Crypt people have gone, especially after Demon Knight.

The DVD itself has nothing extra just like Demon Knight's. No extra audio tracks, no commentary, no features whatsoever. There is a chapter selection.

It was cute seeing William Sadler return for a cameo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gorey and fun horror romp, January 22, 2004
The second (but hopefully not last) Tales From the Crypt film, Bordello of Blood is as nasty as it's title implies. Full of scantily clad vampire women and loaded with a surprising amount of gore for an R-rated movie, this film is pure trashy horror fun with comedian Dennis Miller playing a private eye who stumbles upon a bordello full of vampires being funded by an evangilist (Chris Sarandon). Plenty of toungue-in-cheek dark humor, hot babes, and wild gore; Bordello of Blood doesn't hit the same greatness as Demon Knight, but it doesn't try to either. Also featuring Erika Eleniak, Corey Feldman, and Angie Everhart as the mouthwatering vampire master.

I have to say this is one of the better Tales from the Crypt films. It got a bunch of great actors. Angie Everhart did good job as head vampire. Dennis Miller was funny in this movie. Great fx, and lot of topless vampire girls. The story was well written. Excellent vampire flick!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome movie, classic, buy it!!, February 25, 2008
Ignore the bad reviews and buy this movie!!
This was a thoroughly enjoyable flick! It's just like a "Tales From The Crypt" episode with that mix of horror and humour. Angie Everhart is one damn hot and sexy vampire and does a superb job as Lillith, the head vampire! Never really was a fan of Dennis Miller but he is great with the one-liners and I really enjoyed his presence in this!
A story about a bordello masquerading as a creepy funeral home, with Angie Everhart and a bunch of naked vampire hookers! What more can you want?! This was a really fun movie!! I rented this years ago, then went back and bought it I loved it so much! Blows away many of the newer horror crap that's out there today! How come Hollywood can only come up with remakes these days??
This was a well put together fun, sexy, and scary flick with great acting on the part of all the actors. Yea, maybe a little camp here and there, but it works well and fits the "Tales" style of horror. I am generally picky, especially with horror flicks, in fact I'm not big on humour in movies either, but this movie was enjoyable from start to finish! One of my all-time favs!
Go out and treat yourself to this enjoyable movie, you won't regret it!

For those of you who have not seen this movie before, this is at least worth renting. Angie Everheart is the most beautiful vampire to ever hit the screen. She is very powerful and seductive at the same time. If you are a Dennis Miller fan then this movie is a must see, it reaks of his sarcasm and wit. This is one of those movies that you don't have to wonder if they are following the traditional vampire theme or not. It has beautiful women, a little gore, and a whole lot of humor.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ugh. 2.5 stars, September 21, 1999

This review is from: Tales From the Crypt: Bordello of Blood [VHS] (VHS Tape)
O.K. O.K. I am extremely tolerant of these horror films, (I couldn't help but like deep rising) but this was just old. This vampire thing is completely outdone. Whoever thought of them must be turning over in his grave (or rising from it!). Don't get me wrong. Its not a bad movie. Its nice to watch on a friday night with friends. It wasn't that funny. Except for the guy who was high. My advice? Watch it twice. Its much more enjoyable and funny the second time of viewing. But, still, reflecting upon it, It was just unoriginal and repetative. It could have been a lot better. 2 stars is underrating it though. 2.5.What I tell my friends is, "Its about a whorehouse full of vampires. Big Deal" See it for yourself and make up your own mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Dennis Miller Classic, December 21, 2001

I'm not much of a fan of the Crypt Keeper series, although it is fairly risible at times. What makes this film great is Dennis Miller. Smarming his way to your hearts, he cracks wise with aplomb. He zings more one-liners than there are beer caps at a frat party. The key here is that the director let Dennis "be himself"--and that's why this one is worth buying.
