DO NOT BUY! Original Music Replaced in 12 Episodes,
By Schroeder (DJ WACK O) (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tales from the Darkside: The Second Season (DVD)
First off, my original review was deleted. Why? I don't know. All I can say is DO NOT SUPPORT or BUY season 2 until Paramount releases this series with its ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS/SCORES!!! Season one was butchered with new music added to each & every episode so if you are a "TRUE FAN" of the series,... YOU WILL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE! I refused to watch any further episodes on season one after the 3rd episode. I recall the original scores of EVERY episode & scores are what make some scenes memorable, i was thoroughly disgusted & angered! Ok Paramount, why don't you re-release the classic 70's musical flick "GREASE" & re-dub all the music & scores, you would have TONS of fans screaming at you to stick to the original soundtrack & yet you seem to think that horror fans will not notice the UNSUBTLE music scores you have replaced in 12 episodes of season 2. I will not buy this series until it is released in its ORIGINAL RELEASE!! I urge you "TRUE FANS" to not purchase this garbage until Paramount decides to release this series with its ORIGINAL music scores. Do not encourage Paramount to release any further seasons of Tales From The Darkside by purchasing this junk! Write Paramount & DEMAND the original shows & not this garbage. If you are a TRUE FAN of this series you will not support the poor judgement Paramount has made on these 12 episodes (regarding score/tracks). This trash gets 2 bloody thumbs down, poor judgement on Paramount's behalf & who ever was involved with this release, disgraceful. REMEMBER, with the new score tracks it is not an original release!!!! Schroeder (Publisher/Owner) of Cult Movies Magazine/WACK "O" Publishing/DJ WACK "O"/Orbital Traxx Records

I love Tales From The Darkside. It's a little before my time but I grew up watching reruns and now the SyFy channel has brought it back. Thank God for that! But what's even better is that they're releasing it on DVD! If you love The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Night Gallery...etc. You LOVE Tales From The Darkside. And season 2 is just as eerie, creepy and awesome. Since I was a kid and even now, hearing the theme song gives me chills. It's worth every penny. Believe me. :)

HALLOWEEN CANDY - Makes me the meanest on the block.,

Finally! I wish they would have released this a month ago. With just a few days away from Halloween, you don't have many opportunities to watch this classic Halloween episode. Since October of 1985, this episode has been a Halloween tradition in my family. Like watching John Carpenter's Halloween 1, 2 and 4, this show is part of that yearly tradition. Best line... "if I'm lucky one of those kids will drop dead of sugar overdose right there on the door step. It's no wonder you're so popular in this neighborhood". One more, Mrs. Clausen's dead, makes me the meanest on the block.

Greatest Show on TV... EVER!!!,

This review is from: Tales from the Darkside: The Second Season (DVD)
That's what I think of Tales from the Darkside anyways. I'm sure I wasn't the only kid who wanted cartoons to hurry up and get over so they could watch this show, followed immediately by "Monsters" another great show by the same people.(Hopefully this will see a DVD release as well?) When the SciFi channel had marathons, I would record them, trying to get every episode. It seemed like they kept NOT playing 8 particular episodes. YEARS later, when I heard this was gonna be a DVD, I was getting a Christmas time feeling in August. So far the one thing that is upsetting people about the DVD set is the "music being changed". I watched the DVD and the music being different really didn't bother me. Seeing as this is my favorite show, you think I would freak out worse than anyone about the soundtrack being different from the one I grew to love. But it really isn't that bad. The original music is way better, don't get me wrong. Legal issues I guess are the reason things got changed, and I would rather have the episodes NOW than wait for those people to sort out the music issue. Besides, they still re-run all episodes on SyFy in marathons. TiVo them and dump them to disc if you want to hear the old soundtrack. Have fun skipping commercials, and seeing the SyFy "Coming Soons" getting plugged in the lower part of the screen. I think the DVD's are great.

Once again, Paramount proves they hate horror fans! Another butchered release!,
This review is from: Tales from the Darkside: The Second Season (DVD)
Well, well. Paramount never seems to learn their lessons. The first season of this classic and wonderful show gave us a crappy commentary, a murky looking print, and only 3 episodes that kept their original score. All the rest were butchered. Now, after months of waiting, Season two arrives. Does it meet my expectations for a good product.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Of course not. Does it meet my expectations of what I have come to expect from Paramount? Of course it does. I know perfectly well that they hate horror fans and release shoddy material all the time... so I guess I was expecting this all along. Season two now has arrived. 12 episodes have been re-scored (butchered) and 12 have kept their music, so half the release has been changed. The video still looks like a crappy VHS tape of course, and this time around, Paramount only gives us a crumby 5 minute interview with George Romero. The episodes with changed music include: The Impressionist Lifebomb The Devil's Advocate ( no more classic tune at the conclusion) The Trouble with Mary Jane Effect and Cause Dream Girl A New Lease on Life Printer's Devil The Shrine The Last Car ( A great score that is now completely ruined!) The Uhappy Medium The Casavin Curse (one of my favorite episodes, now butchered) Episodes with their score intact are: Ring around the redhead Parlour Floor Front Halloween Candy The Satanic Piano Distant Signals Ursa Minor Monsters In My Room Comet Watch The Old Soft Shoe A Choice of Dreams Strange Love Fear of Floating Utterly ridiculous! I am praying that Shout factory or Anchor Bay/Blue Underground get the rights to this show because they care about films and they care about consumers. Paramount cares about neither. Just the almighty dollar. Save your cash and download the REAL episodes online!

When i first heard that the second season of tales from hte darkside was coming out on dvd, i didn't know what to expect. But i was surprised when i saw that it was even better than the first! The special feature lived up to the expctations, and the episodes were much more entertaining. They include some stars that are famous to this very day, such as Seth Green. I was not at all disapointed by this product. A must buy.

Tales From The Darkside, is one of the best series from the 1980's, especially the second season. I thought out of all the seasons, the second is the best, I notice when the SyFy channel carries it they usually air the ones from the second season, I don't know if it's just ransomly done, or if it's planned but before I purchased the DVD's I would try to catch the SyFy airing; because I love the series so much. I thought the DVD's were done well considering it's an old series, the DVD's were clear, cut well, and the layout is great.Thank You, -Kris L. CocKayne-

Tales From the Darkside was my favorite show when i was a kid! I've waited a long time for them to give each season an official release and now we're finally getting them! The Last Car is one of the creepiest episodes that this show ever produced and to finally see it in high quality is outstanding! Keep 'em coming!!
