4.0 out of 5 stars Come Over to the Darkside, June 6, 2001

I remember watching Tales from the Darkside in the early 90's -- one of the best series to EVER hit television in my opinion. I'm glad that people who appreciate the show as much as me can now buy it on Amazon.com -- I'm not sure where else somebody could get it. Anyway, this first installment includes my all-time favorite episode: Seasons of Belief. This episode centers around a scary Christmas story that Mom and Dad tell their kids. It turns out to be more than just a story. It still gives me goosebumps! This volume also includes Word Processor of the Gods (with a Harry Anderson-look-and-sound-alike), Everybody Needs a Little Love (not my favorite, but Jerry Orbach is in it), Do Not Open This Box (directed by Jodie Foster), and Distant Signals (starring Darren McGavin). There are some classics on this tape!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary, horrific, and suspenseful that's what this one reader is saying..., January 21, 2006
This review is from: Tales From The Darkside (1984) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Hi,

I used to watch "Tales From The Darkside" (the series) as a child and found it to be delightfully scary, but not too scary. The series consisted of 90 episodes, all of which, were completely different, but usually had ironic twists at the end. The monsters, or the villains at the end of the show usually had the last laugh as opposed to the generic good guys winning!

It was scary, but not too scary.

It would be great if the current company, who owns the licensing rights to the series would release it on DVD in seasonal box sets.

*(Recommended for adults due to adult themes (e.g., scary) might scare younger children).*

2.0 out of 5 stars These were great, July 23, 2006
This review is from: Tales From The Darkside (1984) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I had to make my reply about this...I too would love to see this as a DVD set. I too remember watching this and it was not too scary and I was child..I remember some even being funny. One that still come to mind is about a women that was trying to lose weight...she mailed ordered these "special glasses" and her food was talking to her...some thing like that...can't quite remember..as it was a long time ago...but it was funny..I hope they do consider putting these out on DVD..I got on here checking for that reason.. hoping to buy them.
